Band I was in about 6 years back. After making a semi-pro quality demo disk (& having my best friend/sound engineer doctor the master up for no $$$) the band ended badly...popped the disk in the CD player for the 1st time in years, thinking I was ready to deal with it now. Wrong!

What's amazing to me is that whatever wireless signal this thing uses has a lag time, as if it has to think about the last keystroke it made before it considers another...& I'm not a real fast typist, somewhere between a slow touch-typer & a half-fast hunt&pecker (don't say it, I know I left 2 doors wide open there)...this thing would be a disaster for a truly fast & skilled touch typist...

My ass is still sore from taking it up the ass for a colleague today. Today it was even popsicle cold in N Fl. I walked in to a portable with no heat. I had blowing air but no heat. It was 50 in my classroom and the temperature was dropping. I reported it to the office and they offered me to bring my students into the main building. Kind offer but I had an autistic student having a bad day who was losing his damn mind and trying soooooooooooooo hard to keep it together. A move would have been disasterous. So we asked them to call and get us help. I get to work at 6:30 and at 10:30 still no heat or HVAC dude. So the aide next door kindly came over and tried to fix it. I teasingly told him that he was getting us in trouble. Little did I know how true that was to be. He went online and looked up the thermostat manual and unlocked the thermostat and fixed it. Within 10 minutes it was 60 degrees. So I took my kids to lunch and when I returned the HVAC dude was there. He asked who touched it and how they overrode the system the district has in place and I said I did it. He proceeded to scold me and I explained impolitely how it was fixed and that now that he's touched it that was no longer the case. Anyhow he came inside my class and tore me a new one in front of my kids and my aides. I had to just suck it up and set a good example. About halfway through him telling me how I was going to be reported and the district was gonna take away my birthday :p I realized that I just had to de-escalate him in the same way I do my crazy kids. I think it ended up with him understanding but I guess we will see. I told the secretary that if she gets a call from HVAC for the principal she should accidentally disconnect. :p

Screw setting a good example. I would have dragged the MF out of the room by the ear, & let him know in no uncertain terms that he has no right to embarrass you in front of your students. Actually, that would be a better example to the kids, to show them that NOBODY has the right to humiliate anybody. :whack:

Sorry to say that I also expect him to uphold the Constitution of this country and not be the head of an administration that I believe with intent and design willfully took it in another direction. My thoughts are that, that office is also bound to honor the conventions, treaties and agreements this country has pledged or by direction of the legislation, separate us from them.

That office and authority are not the reward to any privileged individual to fulfill their personal agenda. It does come with the responsibility to lead a nation based on ideals and goals that supersedes any lineage or immediate desire.

It is a position that calls for the highest integrity and has the gravest responsibility for all it's citizens today and for the future. Not one that most of us could do, would want or even can comprehend the gravity of. That is why it is on us to select a true "leader" and not just somebody to occupy the seat.

Doesn't bode well for how realistic the game will be, does it? Heard this a.m that "Back In the U.S.S.R" shows all 4 Beatles in their usual roles, while most any true Beatle fan knows that Ringo had quit the band during that recording, Paul was on the drums, & George was plucking away at a Fender Bass VI...so much for virtual reality.

Lord Snow

I think the demographic they're aiming the game at doesn't know about all that and would disappointed to play a game that doesn't have all four Beatles in it. I know I didn't know that Ringo had left the group, but while I enjoy their music I'm not a hardcore fan and I'm to young to have lived through that time period.

Rock Band is based on doing live shows not studio recording. I'm going to take a leap here and assume that when they played "Back In the U.S.S.R" live Ringo played drums.

I'm pretty sure the Beatles never played "Back in the USSR" live; they stopped doing live shows in 1966, with the exception of the rooftop concert in 1969. The White Album including that song came out in 1968.

They do offer a Rickenbacker 325 that can be purchased separately (as well as a Gretsch Duo-Jet), but that's silly to say the Rick comes with the game when it clearly does not. I'm curious why you feel it makes no sense to offer the game with the Hofner bass?

I would really like to pick this game up. I find the Rock Band/Guitar hero games to be fun as it is, but I think it's really cool that the Beatle's Edition allows for up to three vocalists so you can (attempt) to sing the harmonies as led by the game.

The ad I saw had the picture of the Hofner bass labeled as the Rick. I think it's weird that the instrument that comes with the game is a bass; not a lot of people play air bass; it's faux guitar they want to play.

Of course, I don't see the appeal myself. Why would I want to play a fake guitar? I'd rather play for real.

This is the third full Rock Band brand game released and it's supposed to be compatible with most controllers, including those produced for use with Guitar Hero. There's a solid chance that folks that pick up this game will already have a guitar (at the very least) that will work with this game and the Hofner bass is arguably the most recognizable instrument the Beatles used. People have the option of guitar, bass, vocals, and drums in the game, so it makes sense, to me anyway, to include the bass since most folks likely don't have one. (Yes, a regular guitar controller will work fine, but they're trying to sell the look as well as the music.) They also sell a non-Beatles related bass controller that has a split strum bar so you can walk it with two fingers. Just some info on a game I have fun with, which is really all it is... A game of dexterity and hand eye coordination.

Hey, I always wanted to be Paul anyway!...'cept I'm not a lefty...

I suppose I was being a little grumpy & splitting hairs on the "who played what" dispute...the developers actually answered the question of "USSR" saying that they were more concerned w/peeps having fun being the Beatles, than historical accuracy. I'm with AZ (I wish!) on getting the guitar names right should be a major priority.

Aqua, I asked #2 son if he was interested in getting the Beatles/Rock Band, & he said his Guitar Hero controllers don't work w/RB...could be he got it wrong, but I didn't realize there was a difference....

It's going to suck to have her gone. :(

It'll suck more having her linger in an existence where her only joy is the attention from her "pack".

Keep in mind Neige, no one is truly gone until they are forgotten. So long as you hold her in your hearts she'll live forever.

I'm not looking forward to supper tonight... We are waiting for my mother-in-law to announce that she is getting the boys' dog put to sleep. She is at least 20 years old by their calculations, and her hips and back legs aren't working too well anymore... It's going to suck to have her gone. :(
I hear ya...as I mentioned elsewhere, I've been wrestling with the same decision about my 17 yr old Pom-X for about a week now. Knowing when the right moment has come is the hardest part (so far).

Well it actually didn't come up last night. It's very hard knowing when the right moment has come... (((scotz)))

At the "Flying Monkey?

Today, I've got to get some stuff done on the computer. I'm putting together a bit of an instructional thing on the use of Powerpoint for a friend of mine.
