This happened at the airshow.

At approximately 6:15 p.m. CDT on Tuesday, July 27, 2010, a Beechcraft Premier business jet registered to Roush Fenway Racing, LLC, was involved in a landing accident on Runway 18 at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh. The National Transportation Safety Board and Winnebago County Sheriff's Department has confirmed the two occupants on board were Jack Roush of Northville, Mich., and Brenda Strickland of Plymouth, Mich., who each exited the aircraft following the accident. Both were transported to local hospitals, with Roush in serious but stable condition and Strickland with non-life threatening injuries. The NTSB is leading the investigation into the accident.

Even the best stuff up.

I have a week as of tomorrow off work thanks to my boss (really nice bloke) to get myself better. I am extremely thankful for his understanding.

My supervisor though, hmmmmmm, she is not so happy. Apparently because she can drag herself to work when she is sick (office job) everyone should (my job is physical labour) Upset me greatly with her remark i can tell you. Made me feel like i'd put it all on for days off, my immune system is taking a beating, from the amount of high level antibiotics i was on in and as an outpatient at the hospital and the ones i am still on til tomorrow. I made a mistake, i went back too early. I'm not taking it as sick leave, i'm using my Long Service Leave (great use of 3 weeks of LSL eh *L* to be sick)

Dont mind me, just sick, grumpy, upset and needing to let off some steam.

Lord Snow
08-03-2010, 08:23 PM
I am one of those that can usually drag myself into work when I'm sick. However, my version of sick and other people's version of sick are two different things. If it's a cold, I'm not sick. It's not very often I get sick enough to call in. I have to have no strength to move, can't keep my eyes open for longer than 10-15 minutes kind of sick for me to call in. I do sympathize with you Fang, there is no reason to go into work when you're body is shot like that and no reason for a person in upper management to complain. Especially if you don't do this very often.

Building a mosque on the site may be seen by extremist Islam as putting a victory stamp on the site. It will certainly be seen as such by conservative America.

I had hoped that the site would stay as greenspace with a tasteful monument.

Lord Snow
08-05-2010, 09:02 AM
From what I've been told, the mosque is going a few blocks away from Ground Zero, but is still fairly close. Like less than a mile close. I think the biggest outrage is that the people of New York did make an appearance at the variance hearing and did protest the structure being built there, but the judge ruled in favor of the mosque and not the people. I had a discussion about this with my dad just the other day because of something he posted on facebook.

I had an interesting experience today.

I was walking along the waterfront here in Chicago when a heap of white Suburbans, cop cars, ambulances and SUVs with funny flags on them went past. One of the SUVs pulled up and my mate Barry, who I haven't seen for ages, stuck his head out of the window and asked me what I had on for dinner. Now you remember Barry, moved from his old place into that white house on the corner.

Anyway, to make a short story long, I had to decline his kind offer. Sadly, a few minutes before I had run into some really nice men who invited me to a couple of drinks at a pub called the Grassy Knoll.I told him we'd catch up next time he's in Oz.

Gotta run before they call last drinks.

Neige,

For many, if not most Americans, building a mosque at the site of former Twin Towers is akin to building a McDonald's restaurant beside General Brock's (and Colonel Macdonell, though few know of him) on Queenston Heights.

Both are perceived as symbols of a foreign and vaguely dangerous threat. That either should be built where each country’s nationals were killed by attacks from “them” is, as has been previously pointed out, easily represented as a victory for the other side.

I'm not sure on the laws, but I believe precedent is the only thing that dictates that he rules in favor of those who object. I do find the location, if it's as near as I'm thinking, in bad taste. However, it is also entirely plausible that he ruled the way he did to try and keep the peace. I haven't done any looking into the subject, so all I'm doing is guessing.

Another example of what happens when a judge overrides the will of the people.
A judge has a responsibility to decide a case based on the law, not the will of the people.
In the instance of the Ground Zero Mosque, the unelected officials whose ruling has been criticized are not judges, but members of a Landmarks Commission.

In the other, that's why almost all laws are passed by politicians - they are accountable to the popular vote. The remaining few are popular initiatives like Prop 8.

As for the condition of the system, one might reflect upon the immigrants to emigrants ratio.

A judge has a responsibility to decide a case based on the law, not the will of the people.

And that's fine so long as judges don't go and make laws. But the will of the people should eventually prevail upon the lawmakers to reflect those wishes.

Shadows, I don't have one quite that large, but I do have the 40" broad sword from Starfire. Weighs nearly 10 lbs. 40" blade, and yes I can swing it fairly effectively. I help my cousin teach stage fighting every once and awhile. The moves we tend to use are actually quite effective if in a real combat situation, but we slow them down and use blunted edges.

Lord Snow you need 1 of our swords they will cut a starfire in half! A two handed claymore will only weigh about 6lbs!and we can balance them for stage(slower blade speed) or live steel combat .From March until the middle of June I have a master bladesmith from Alaska work out of my shop every year and have been learning from him.

SEATTLE - The North American Aerospace Defense Command says military fighter jets were scrambled to respond to an air-space violation near Air Force One in Seattle.

Spokesman John Cornelio says the F18 jets were sent from Portland, Ore., as the president was visiting Seattle after a report that an aircraft violated the restricted airspace. He says the aircraft left the restricted area before the Air National Guard jets arrived, and there was no intercept.

KING 5 News was flooded with calls and e-mails from people who heard and felt the explosions. Many people reported that their homes shook.

Emergency agencies across Western Washington have been flooded with calls from people who heard and felt a double boom about 1:50 p.m.

Det. Ed Troyer with the Pierce Co. Sheriff's Dept. says the 911 system is down via landlines in areas of Pierce County due to sonic boom.

Troyer also said many house and car alarms have been set off.

The FAA says the air space closed because of Pres. Barack Obama's visit was breached, and two F18 jets were scrambled in response.
