Yep. I could not find jalepenos LS. I usually grow them every year. I have some nice ones in the fridge now. I got several different types of tomatoes, full-sized and cherry, yellow and reds. Tons of fresh herbs, banana peppers, and flowers.

Surgery was cancelled for Wednesday at one centre due to me not getting by their restrictions. I am now going to be operated on at a hospital on Thursday, they have facilities to cope if i need to be admitted or things dont go to plan.....sooooooooooooooooo

I have to be at the hospital at 12pm, will be prepped and then to surgery. Unsure on when i will get out, depending how it all goes i assume (though there was mention of 3-4 hours)

I'll let Bilbo know to let you all know as soon as he can. It will be a full on day though, and we may not be near the puter til i get home anyway.

I am a bit nervous, but all will be good....see ya all soon!

I was reading one of the news stories on Yahoo's home page about the earthquake in Japan. It's especially interesting to me because I lived one year in Sendai and another six months in a small suburb called Tagajo. Both were referenced in the article. Sendai had been a city of about 500,000 people when I lived there and Tagajo was maybe 2,000 to 4,000 people. Sendai is now over one million and Tagajo I read somewhere was now actually a small city of about 60,000.

Even more interesting, two of the people I usually have coffee with during the week know the area. One lived in Sendai (left the year we arrived) and the other was in Fukashima (a nearby community) which is where the nuclear plant has been seriously damaged.

Brings the devastation and damage home in a very profound way. Streets I walked on in Tagajo have disappeared and it's hard to imagine a city the size of Sendai facing the damage and struggles they're facing now. In some ways, it maybe even worse than Katrina was to New Orleans and the Gulf Coast.

Needless-to-say, my heart and prayers go out to the people of Japan (especially northeastern Japan) and the grief they are enduring now.

So all in all, the last day has seen improvement, and hopefully it will just keep on eading in that direction.

So, yes, the flooding in my basement. As I posted in another thread, I had to rip out part of an interior wall in order to get at the cracks in the concrete floor where the water was coming in.

Then I got to put holes in the floor. After all, you can't fill in holes in the floor if there are no holes in the floor to fill.

Then in order to prevent water from coming in through the holes in the floor, I had to put water in the holes in the floor.

Now I get to see if this concrete patch stuff actually worked, and if it did, then replace the framework & drywall I ripped out.

This sucks, but fortunately, not as much as our shop-vacs sucked during the flood itself. But that's why we bought the shop-vacs in the first place.

I have removed most of the plants from the 5ft and got the 3ft roughly scaped/planted. Considering i cant see into it more than a few cm, its a bit of a pot luck *L* Thats what i get for moving some of the planted substrate out of the 5ft and just dropping it into a partially filled 3ft *L* Oh well it'll clear. The fish are all still in the 5ft for now, and mighty peeved cause i took their hidey places away. Took me nearly all day to do it, one handed and all, but the withdrawals of not being able to play in my tanks was killing me!!! Tomorrow i'll drop a heater in to it, bring it up to temp and depending how clear it is, i may move the fish over

Went to see "Battle: Los Angeles" today. Very exciting special effects. Not a terribly deep plot, but terrific action scenes. Unusual (I think) for an "alien invades Earth" movie, the aliens are not invulnerable to our poor weapons. If you like action movies, you'll no doubt enjoy this (we do ... and we did :) ).

As mentioned earlier this week, I have one granddaughter that is 12 years old and seriously into gymnastics.
I spent the day with No. 3 granddaughter attending her first state gymnastic championships.
She placed first in her Level 5 on vault, 3rd on beam and 10th for State All Around. :line:
Like many little girls, including her mother, they go for a couple years and enjoy the experience while exploring other interests. Well this one is into her fifth year of the sport, so it has caught more than a passing fancy for her. It's serious enough now that the possibility of this greatly helping her education is being looked at. Long story short, when she went to practice today she was surprised with the presentation of a letter explaining there had been a error in the point count and the 5th place in State All-around award. Besides making a proud grandfather, we now have some serious considerations of which way next.

Standings in the NHL Eastern Conference are still shaky. Caps are currently in first place, but they still have a game to play: Philly has 2 games, and if they win both of them, and the Caps lose their last game, Philly will take 1st place on the tie breakers. Rangers are currently in 8th place, but Buffalo could also blow their last two games, and give the Rangers 7th place. Montreal is in sixth, but could slip to 7th place. The three division winners and the top five other teams from each conference go to the playoffs.

So, unlikely, but there could be a repeat of last year's playoffs, in that Washington & Montreal could face each other in the first round of the playoffs again this year.

So last night, Philadelphia lost to Buffalo in overtime. Gives Washington the conference title: but who they face in the first round of the playoffs depends on the outcome of the Carolina/Tampa Bay & New York Rangers/New Jersey games tonight.

I just noticed ... in eight days, I'll have been a registered member of Pixies for nine years. May 15, 2002 was when I joined and I became an avid fan almost overnight.

I guess that's one reason I feel a little sad this morning. I've noticed how few threads and how few registered members are even bothering to post anymore.
