Songwriter Ellie Greenwich, who penned River Deep, Mountain High, died today in New York. She was 68 years old.

She collaborated with Phil Spector on Chapel of Love and Da Doo Ron Ron.

During her long career, she was awarded some 25 gold & platinum discs.
