Flighty!
Soooo........... Mayhem and i are solidifying plans for me to fly to him in June. i have been all over the net looking for the best price possible for round trip tix.
places that i have been are travelocity, Priceline, Orbitz, Hotwire, Cheap-tickets, Expedia, and Student-Universe.
Am I missing any good places? Secret unknowns? I need to get the best price possible---Lizz is a po' college student, *L*
Anyone have really good or bad experiences with these guys? Advice for flying?
I, fortunately, don't mind flying, in fact, i find lift off exhilerating!
here is a quick fact list for ya if you can find some great deals for me. (All help in anyway will greatly be appreciated!!!!)
Flying round trip from CHI (either Chicago airport) to BHX (birmingham int'l)
dates: June 6th 2005-July 15, 16,17, or 18th 2005 ~~~OR~~~~
June 11th 2005-July 15, 16, 17, or 18th 2005
the cheapest i have found was $945 USD with all taxes and fees included in the price. would like to try and beat that.
i am not picky on the seat, the time i leave or arrive, or if it is a non-stop flight or not. Oh and i am willing to do "e-tickets"
Basically a cheap flight, just to get me into the waiting arms (mmm and other things too!) of my man.
Thanks for your help, and advice! Lots of Love to you! Lizz ![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

Suggestion #1:
Consider flying a low cost carrier closer to the East coast of the US. For example Southwest out of Midway (MDW) to Philly (PHL) and then another carrier (US Airways) to Birmingham. It's slightly cheaper. I'm not sure if Jet Blue flies into Chicago and if so which of the airports. Southwest can only be booked on the web through southwest.com.
Suggestion #2:
Consider flying into London and taking a train. I found an Air Canada flight from ORD to LHR (connecting through Ottawa) for $869 on Orbitz.
Suggestion #3:
Signup on any airlines website for a frequent flyer number and their email specials. Some of them let you choose destinations so your email solicitations are more limited to what you want.
Suggestion #4:
Priceline.com. I've used this domestically, it's particularly beneficial when you are flexible on dates as you have indicated. If anyone has used it internationally it would be interesting to hear their input as well.
Suggestion #5:
Check the airline websites. The ones you mentioned are good, but they get a limited number of seats from the carriers. I've found instances of being able to go to the carriers website and get a cheaper better for me flight.

Ohhhhhhh, you're talking about an airplane.
Glad to hear the plans are progressing, lizz and mayhem. GREAT!
maddy's suggestions are good. Also, watch the newspaper and online for short-term specials that might come up. Low-cost summer travel is tough, though. Good luck on finding a good fare. But mainly, ENJOYYYYYYY (but guess I don't have to tell you that).

Get him to check from the UK side. You may also find out of New York to London as beng the route most used and may have specials. Have fun. ![Smilie](images/smilies/smile.gif)

I'm happy and excited for you two.
Maddy is on top of it (I wish :wobble: ) for sure. Besides that, I’d touch base with the person from our village, that we know travels more than anybody else. If OSUCHE has time during her busy relocation, see if she has any additional suggestions.

Lizz, if you decide to take the train, when arriving over here, then use this to check out the train and buy your tickets.

Thank you All for your advice and your suggestions. I think that we got it pretty much sorted out. Plus we moved the date ahead for my departure. It will be June 1st thru the 18th of July, that I will be there. We found a decent deal thru Continental Airlines.
..........Soon, ever so soon, i will be with him!..........

In 3 short days, i go to Grand Rapids and fly out from there. Bags are packed, passport is ready, a swarm of butterflies are in my tummy, and my heart is full of joy and love!
I just wanted to share with all of you at my Pixie Family.
i want to say a few special thanks to a few Pixies:
Booger and Soda, for letting me bunk with them for a few days and van-sitting for me and taking me to the airport.
Pantyfanatic, for being a Mother Hen *cluck, cluck*
Most of all, Mayhem, my Love, You are my Shining Star! Without your love and support... well you know.

Lizz, I'm so thrilled for you and your sweetheart. I know it's been a long wait, and I know how sweet these last few days are. My very best wishes are with you as you travel, and as you finally meet your love face to face.
This is going to blow you away in the very best possible way!
