Perhaps, someone can explain this.It really makes no sense,to my
aquaintences & I.I am just as upset as anyone, when I see the pictures of prisoner abuse. From what I have heard on many news
stations, there is a HUGE impression, made in mainly Arab countries
Why is it that there is no outrage, when pictures are shown,of
people,being shot,heads cut off & waved around,Bodies being
mutalated, dragged thru the streets,& hung up & danced around,
etc, etc, etc?I frankly, don't see much difference.Granted, none should happen, but why is it OK for one side but not the other?

P.S.I know that this is wrong, but I also know that Two wrongs don't make a right!

I’m sure the main reason for the outcry over the pictures is that these soldiers were sent in to Iraq to rescue the people from the brutal regime that was in place. To then be confronted with images of the rescuers being just as brutal as the original dictators must be horrifying. The one thing we can take comfort in is that this was a very small number of people. I find there excuse that they weren’t given any training on how to look after prisoners a bit poor, I don’t think anyone needs training to tell them it’s not right to stand someone on a box, cover their head with a hood and tell them that if they move they’ll be electrocuted. The majority of troops serving in Iraq are there to ensure the safety of everyone and it’s these people we should be thinking of.

I feel the same as you Irish, but as you know politics here in the US dictate that we must be politically correct. Rarely are such pictures posted that are not politically motivated. Especially now, due to the fact that we are in an election year, the liberal media find it to their best interest to publish anything they can get their hands on that would adversely effect the efforts of the current administration. For some reason some people in America think that we should overlook all of the atrocities demonstrated around the world by others. Simply put, they are afraid they will offend someone, or make them feel bad by pointing out their shortcomings.

I for one, firmly believe that if the US should ever fall, it will come from within. The bleeding heart liberals will force so much liberalism in this country that one day the vulnerabilities will be so huge that no one will be able to provide national security.

No country in the world does as much as the US regarding the acceptance of diversity. However, no matter how much is done it is never enough. The overwhelming majority of Americans are outraged at the Anti-Americanism that exists here, but still allow the small minority of squeaky wheels to force their views into law.

I surely hope that America wakes up one day soon, before it is to late.

Irish,

These are members of the armed forces of a country which invaded a sovereign nation and overthrew its government. I am not surprised that their behavior is expected to be exemplary rather than savage. Double standards have existed throughout history. Why expect an exception to that rule in this instance?

It boils down to what we do to you, you can't do to us. For the U.S. somehow it will come down to us being in the wrong, they want the money and help that we are willing to give. But to work for it or to have us say something to help them on their own way without anyfurther ($) help it's wrong. If an Soldger gets killed and drug through their streets, it's a protest but for a blindfold to be put on one of them it's tourture.

I find the reaction and the press coverage somewhat - not sure if hypocritical is the correct word- but I think back to our soldiers in Mogadishu being dragged through the street(Black Hawk Down), and the lack of reaction. I share Irish's opinion that it is wrong and two wrong don't make a right, but let us be even about how we portray either side. Hope I have made my point clear, too many thought rolling around about this issue.
