Fuel with 10% ethanol content i believe
Yes E10 is 10% Ethanol which any car made in the last 10 year can run on. We are now seeing E85 in our area, which is 85% ethanol and if you have a FFV(flex fuel vehical) it will run on E85 or E10 or regular gas. And before any says anything about power with E10 or E85 all Indy race cars run on 98% ethanol. They do not run on 100% ethanol because they would then have to pay a liquor tax. We have a station in town that the straight gas is 87 octane and cost 10cents a gal more than the 89 octane which is E10.
Fangtasia
01-17-2008, 10:59 PM
I put E10 in my car, and notice absolutely no difference between it and normal unleaded...well except the price lol
I've heard of E85, we havent long had E10...not sure the government would permit higher ethanol content cause they couldn't tax it as high *L*

( In the US, consumers have been near apoplectic as petrol (or gasoline) prices have hit the unheard of heights of $3 a gallon. That's the equivalent of roughly 40p a litre.
In the UK, we're now pretty much used to paying more than £1 a litre. That's the kind of level that would cause a revolution in the States. Here we just cough up and wince and console ourselves that at least it's still cheaper than bottled water.) Quote from msn money uk using this it works at about

I don't pay a whole lot of attention to diesel generally, but I'm always looking for something to read while filling up to distract me myself from the depressing way the dollars roll upward during fillup...& in that reading, there seems to be some new higher quality standards for diesel (emission standards) that weren't in play a year or two ago...that would tend to drive the cost up a bit. The "creeping up" you noticed back when everybody went diesel would have been explained by ole reliable "supply & demand", which quickly began to look like "bait & switch"...

I have discovered why the price of diesel is now higher than the price of gasoline, when in my youth the reverse was true.
Demand from China and Europe has increased. Refineries in the U.S. have been operating at above 90% capacity over the last ten years. Increasing demand for a fixed supply causes prices to rise in a capitalist system.
The transition to low-sulfur diesel fuel has affected diesel fuel production and distribution costs. In 2006, new EPA standards for sulfur content in diesel fuel started to phase in. By 01-JUN-06, 80% of the on-highway diesel fuel sold in the U.S. had to be Ultra-Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD) fuel (sulfur content <= 15 ppm), replacing most Low Sulfur Diesel (LSD) fuel (sulfur content <= 500 ppm). By 01-DEC-10, all on-highway diesel fuel must be ULSD fuel. In 2007, new standards for diesel fuels for off-highway consumption started to phase-in. The additional refining has added to the per gallon cost. Cleaner air costs money.
For anyone interested in the data, here are the links.

There is NO shortage!
This is a system out of control and could easily begin it's end. When pressure exceeds the strength of the support it will exert high stress on many parts until it crushes the weakest point. We have 20 pumps where I work and it's one of the busiest stations, next to that of Walmart. I hate seeing what a struggle it is for so many people, especially the college students who are often deciding between gas and eating. We also have a large Mexican population that come in every morning as they start their day and the gas prices are really hitting them hard. Then there is the elderly who are on fixed incomes and regale us with the, "I remember when," stories.
