Veteran's Day

I just realized, there's been nothing mentioned about this holiday. For myself, my hat is off to all the men and women who are serving in our armed forces, and those of free men everywhere, who have given their lives that we might be free.

For all service men and women ... thank you for all you've done for us.

God bless!

We passed by a 24 hour memorial today and I was feeling so grateful to all the veterans from the past and all the ones who were called up and have had to go to Iraq this time.

War is a horrible shitful thing and those who fight them on our behalf are beyond praise.

I,for one, would like to thank everyone who has said "thanks" to our veterans, either here or when out in everyday life today.

I can't speak for anyone but myself, but to hear someone say simple, yet meaningful words like "thank you", it reminds me that when I served, that, Yes I was just "doing my job", but that it also did and still does, mean more than that.

Thank you for remembering, Pixies!

America has Memorial Day to give thanks and remember the people that did not come back to us when our country called. We have our Veterans Day to thank the people that stood up and were able to return to the friends and families that they went for. Thank you all that have served in the past, the ones that helped in another time and the special men and women that are serving now in a new age.

*SALUTE*

My sentiments exactly. Hopefully the day will come when war will become something that only exists in the history books.

I do respect Veterans, but the ones I have the most admiration for are the ones who end up fighting in the wars that shit-headed politicians get us into, when said politicians have no business getting us into said wars.

Really, we have the principle of "civilian control of the military," so even if the soldier, sailor or airman in question can recognize that we, as a people, don't belong in that war, the military personnel have no choice other than to risk their lives in the war, or risk their lives (often literally...desertion can be, and often is, considered a capital offense) trying to avoid the war.

Hats off to those caught in this dilemma. I am personally glad I never had to face that choice.
