Mindboxer505---I was just going to tell you that was Jim Croce;
but I see that Scotz told you.He was one of my favorite performers.He wrote most of his songs himself and you could
relate to them because they were so about life!Exp:"Time in a
Bottle."and Just like Dad.I'm not exactly sure of the title of the
last one but it was so true of the way that people find other things more important then the upbringing of their kids.I had one
of his Albums but I sold alot of my old albums;years ago;for room
and to stop the records from warping.One that I saved is probably
a collectors item.The old "Stones"album with the zipper on the
album cover.I had one cover with Joe Cocker on the cover.I bet he
weighed 150lbs!I think that it was-"Mad Dogs&Englishmen."
Irish
P.S.He also wrote "Taxi"

Irish,
I think the song you are looking for is "Cats in the Craddle" By Harry Chapin.
"Cat's in the craddle and the silver spoon, little boy blue and the man in the moon, when you comin home dad, I don't know when....but we'll get together then, son. We're gonna have a good time then...."
I don't think Croce actually sang it...but the two are easily confused.

Irish, the "zipper" album was, I believe, "Sticky Fingers"... the cover design was by Andy Worhol... as for the Joe Cocker album, Mad Dogs & Englishmen was a live double album, I don't remember if he was on the cover or not... if the cover pic was a close-up of Joe screaming, without the beard, that was "A Little Help From My Friends"... that was a few brains cells ago LOL

Scotz---You had brain cells?You realise that you are getting older when you come across some of the things that you put aside years ago to save and forgot that they were even there.Also;
when your grandkids want to do something and you think of how
dangerous that is and realise that you used to do it and thought
nothing about it! Irish
P.S.Everything always happens to someone else;never to you!

blk cat---That's it exactly.My wife&I went through alot of our old
records a few years ago.We got rid of most of them because we
don't have a turntable any more and were afraid that they would
warp.We have a few tape decks and CD players but no turntable.
I had a full length (approx.6ft.)oak console with 15"Bass speakers
on the ends,3 1/2Treble&approx.9"tweeters on the front.It had a
56watt. amp.It had an AM/FM-FMSterio radio in it.I gave it away.
I built two speaker boxes to go with it;on the other side of the
room.They are in my garage.I also have an old 8-track;for a car;
out there!We also had a bunch of 45s'.I don't know what she saved!She was a Huge Peggy Lee fan when she was a teenager
and had almost all of her 45 releases.Unfortunately as you get
older;you run out of room and can't save everything.I am a big
pack rat! Thanks,Irish
P.S.My Pontiac has a CD.My Jeep Cherokee has a CD and tape deck.They both have the best AM/FM radios that are available.

Irish.
About this time last year,i came to realize i had become
a record collector and rat packer of recorded sound,so i sold
my LP playing system,but i'm still left with 2,000+LPs,
a jukebox with 200,45s in it,plus box's of others,last but not
4 RCA Victor wind ups with over 500 78's.space is at a
premium here at chez blk cat.

I don't know if anyone has said this one or even if some will class it as a love song but i do, and it is "Everything i do" by brian adams i just love that song, and erm that one by Aerosmith from Armegeddon (however you spell it) they are just a few i can think of at the moment.
