TY for the insight. I didn't figure that JT wrote the song, as many of the tunes he is famous for were works by others...but I didn't know all the trivia.
Didn't play college bowl, did ya?

Absolutely... just to add some detail to what Fang said, "Layla" came out of EC's frustration over his love for his best friend George's wife... "Wonderful Tonight" came out of a different frustration, one that many men know; Patti was taking a long time getting ready to go out, & he told her "you look wonderful tonight"... as in, "Can we please go now?"

College Bowl is like Jeopardy, only in teams. It's the bowl for the smart/trivia oreinted students that doesn't require any athletic ability, only knowledge. Many colleges compete against other Universities in their conference (much like athletics), but there are also national competitions.
Many of the questions and categories are based on trivial knowledge (trivial as in not "unimportant" but rather "little known facts")
Irish...not so much like a toilet bowl, but thanks for playing!

Ophelia---I was kidding about that also!I have been out of school
since 1961 so I don't know alot about the current educational
changes.I know that there was a big change with my daughters;
and they are in their 30s now. They each have 2 children. One is a
special ed kid;so I can't go by his teachings.I have been a mechanic all of my life and there wasn't any time for going to school.Rule#1:Don't take anything that Irish says seriously. When
you get used to me;you will know that! This is a place to joke around with the other people.Nothing nasty is ever said without
one saying so. Irish

These modern songs inspire passion, but not love.
The last true modern love song I remember hearing was
Whitney's "And I will always love you".
Oldies rule here.
Irish, please stop picking on Ophelia.
Ophelia, kiss better anyway.
Oldfart, put that gorgeous thing down!!
(Sorry)

when my wife and i started dating and living together in my fifth wheel trailer, it seemed like every night as we went to bed the radio would play ''TEARS IN HEAVEN'' by.......eeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrr, can't remember his name but i think he was one of the Beatles.
anyway, that became Our song as we laid there making plans for our future. everytime i hear it on the radio i think about those early years and how our love has changed in some areas and has remained the same in others.

That would be Eric Clapton, not quite one of the Beatles, tho he did sit in on some George Harrison songs... he was with several groups in the 60's, Yardbirds, Bluesbreakers, Cream, a lot of solo work since. BTW, "Tears" was written for his 5-yr-old son Conner, who died after falling out a window... could make it one of the greatest Love songs of all time, imo...
