The book is called "Return of the Indian" by Lynne Reid Banks.
There is a third book as well.
I can't find it in hardcover either.

1. Not enough sleep this entire past week, and moderate insomnia again last night.
2. Still haven't warmed up enough from having the windows in the house replaces yesterday.
3. Too much shit to do with trying to put the house back together from item #2, trying to help organize and run the s/f convention that starts (for my purposes) tomorrow.

Oldfart there are 5 books in the series.
I guess I'm going to have to come up with some other book for my niece.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I've gotten her: Stuart Little, Charlotte's Web, Where the Red Fern Grows, James in the Giant Peach, and Indian in the Cupboard.

We didn't get as much snow as predicted.
I can see my breath outside.
It's cold.

LS, you can buy the first three as a single volume in paperback. Try Amazon or The Book Depository (UK, not Dallas).

17 seems to be the magic age when they are less embarrassed by us.
I am having a burger with smoked Gouda, sweet and spicy pepper sauce, mayo and horse radish for dinner with some sweet potato fries.
I am not an enabler which can leave me feeling like a shitty person.

My daughter was 17 too. For a couple of years she had done the three steps ahead of me walk.
I remember as clear as day walking down a street shopping with my mother and being so embarassed by the thought that "people will know she is my mother"
What a shitty thing to think.....lol she wasn't too thrilled to be seen with me wearing my hot pants (LMAO was I ever that thin)

Had a horrible headache last night. Went to bed at 6:30 trying to get rid of it. Woke up briefly at 9 to take some Tylenol PM and tried again. Eventually did fall asleep but slept horribly.
Woke up feeling better but so very tired.
Am issuing bonuses this week, and it's not an easy thing to do when the maintenance guys are within eyesight across the property. Must everything they do make us look like bumbling idiots??
