The 1904 Olympic games WERE to have been held here in Chicago, but were moved to St. Louis to coincide with the World's Fair there.

The modern Olympic Games have been held FOUR times in the United States, more than any other country.

New York City is a candidate for the 2012 games (2004 will be Athens, and 2008 will be Beijing).

After consolidating power in Germany in the 1930s, Hitler wanted to cancel the games scheduled for Berlin in 1936, until he was convinced they could be turned into a major propaganda tool.

Games were to have been held in Tokyo in 1940 and London in 1944, but were cancelled due to the war. London had its games in 1948, and Tokyo much later.

#1717~The orange Monopoly properties are landed on most often. (It only *seems* like it is Boardwalk and Park Place that you get nailed most often on.)

The US board game known as Risk was first printed there in 1959, with the full title of The Risk Continental Game.

It was based on a game published in France under the title La Conquête du Monde, invented by ALbert Lamorisse.

Since 1996, it has gone under the full title of Risk: The Game of Global Domination, in the US.

Actually, according to the Monopoly Companion, they are the 2nd most frequently landed on. But the highest in terms of payoff. On average, you can regain 23.5% of investment in the oranges each time an opponent completes a trip around the board.

Again, according to the Monopoly Companion, the RAILROADS are the most frequently landed on group. Each trip around the board, a person has a 64% chance of landing on a railroad.
