Black Friday?
Just curious who likes to head out shopping on Black Friday. Is there anything you have your heart set on this year?

I have dinner on Thanksgiving with my Mom and Aunt. Afterward we scan the ads. If anything catches our eye (usually it does) we head to Kohl's on Friday morning. Sometimes from a trip to Bed, Bath and Beyond. Then home for naps and sandwiches. Not the dedication that some have but we enjoy it....

My plans for Black Friday usually involve either having to work, or hiding under the covers in fear of the mob mentality.

I pretty much avoid retail as much as reasonably possible from Thanksgiving on. I love internet shopping. I don't have to put on real clothes or deal with traffic. And we've whittled down the list of people we have to give gifts to pretty well over the years, so that helps, too.

My daughter love to hit the malls on Black Friday.
I'm planning for an Apple TV as an early Christmas gift, so I can play my iTunes playlists through the stereo speakers.

I use Bluetooth with my tablet and sound bar to listen to my Pandora stations. Love it.

I just bought a $40 Bluetooth speaker which I play music through. The songs come off the tablet where I have a store of favourites.

I get up at 450 every morning. When there's a chance for me to sleep in, I take it. There is nothing appealing to me at going out that early in the morning fighting all the traffic & the idiots in the stores. I prefer my warm bed & sleep.

My daughter works in retail and has to be to work at 3:00 am Black Friday.
I'll be sleeping in my warm bed. Not much I need that I have to go out at that time.

There's AZRH's next photo thread-shopping from home.
Looking forward to it.

I don't go in for the "doorbusters" and despise Black Friday starting on Thanksgiving Day. I do my best to avoid shopping at any store that starts their BF sale on Thursday. Some retailers started offering their BF deals earlier in the week, which I think is great. You can still get a good deal without the insane crowds and riotous atmosphere.
I took advantage of one such sale and picked up a new TV. It was selling for about $800 less than its list price. (And about $400 less than its standard sale price. Gah, for so many products the "List Price" means nothing. Especially electronics and musical instruments. There's list price and then the "what everyone actually sells it for" price.) Anyway, a lot of stores were offering this particular model of Samsung for $999. I managed to get another $50 off that.
Star Wars has never looked so good!
Also, I'm kind of ashamed to admit part of the reason I wanted a new TV is because we put in a new one at work and got the upgrade to a better picture fever. However, I'm going to wrap up my old TV (46" Toshiba LCD), which still works great, and give it to my parents for Christmas. Their current TV had a terrible picture and the lower right corner looks like somewhere smeared a thin layer of Vaseline on it, leaving it fuzzy and hard to view. Upgrade for me, upgrade for the parents, and no camping on a sidewalk.

If you can de-gauss your parent's TV, you'll have a spare.
