What's Your Advice About Telling A Good Story?
I love writing stories .... not just here, but this has been a good place for me to write and learn and gain some confidence because of the positive attitude that is so much a part of Pixies .... so, I've learned a few things about how to tell a better story .... how to tell a better PIXIES type story, etc. ... but I know I'm a long way from knowing it all .... so I thought maybe those of us who like to write, and those who like to read could tell the things that work for them in a story they really enjoy ....
OK, I'll start ... I was lucky enough to have a person I met on Pixies teach me about not starting my sentences so much with "I", "He" or "She" ... but instead to start with more action words .... that little change has made a HUGE difference in the feeling behind my stories I think.
What's your advice???? or do you have a pet peeve that makes you "crazy" whenever you see it in a story???? or is there something you find particularly distracting when you are reading a story?
