As a little girl, I always used to wonder why Iceland and Greenland were named the way they were, yet their geographic features and climates didn't match their names at all...I still think it's kind of stupid actually....

...as I understandit........ during the age of “discovery”, every European nation wanted to have settlements anywhere they could get them. After finding “Iceland” to be promotional failure, it was decided to give the next target area a more appealing name.
