I have a problem with my puter..i hope some one can help me with. I cant look at the pics on here, everytime i open one up a get an error message and my explorer closes. I have cleared my cookies and deleted temp files and cleared history. I hope someone can help, cuz it takes the fun out of pervin if you cant see anything Help!!

do you have a pop up blocker? sometimes mind did that when I had it turned on...

Cheyanne..thank you i tried that and some other things, i can at least look at the pics here now so things are a little better..lol
It seems like a have something running in the background somewhere. Maybe somebody who knows more about this stuff than me can help. the pop blocker i think was part of the trouble though. at least i can perv now..

Have you ever downloaded a program like Spybot to search and see if you have spyware or adware on your system?

Yeah, I would recommend Spybot or Ad-Aware, you most likely have some spyware on your computer. You can get Spybot from CNet and it is a really helpful program. It makes my computer run so much better.

Here's some common ones that cause such problems:

~toolbars such as SURF or HOTBAR running
~anti-pop up programs such as McAfee or Norton that have ad blockers as part of their features (you can disable them temporarily)

Make sure that your Norton (if you have it) is updated (you shoud get it) that is very important!!!

Like the ladies said before Adaware and Spybot are some essential tools to have...you can dowload both free from CNET...read the instructions carefully though - some of that stuff can intertwine into your regristry and you can delete stuff that you truly need.

We have a lot of techies here at Pixies.. I am sure that if you spell out your problems in more detail someone will have the answer for you!

thanks everybody. I downloaded spybot and adaware and scanned and deleted alot of stuff, hopefully this will help. I wonder if i should just clean out everything and start over, is this a good idea, and is this something i can do or do i have to have it proffesionally done?..thanks to all how has helped...

If you're looking to reformat - delete everything and start again - make sure that you REALLY have to before you do it. I just had to reformat last week, it is not a fun process. And if you do, make sure you back up EVERYTHING that you could possibly need. It's easiest to do this by dumping on CD's, but if you don't have a burner, I would recommend finding some free FTP space - make sure you write down the URL - and upload your more important things. But as for reformatting, make sure that you have the installation disks for all of your software, along with the Registration keys. You should have a system recovery disk that came with your computer, and you just boot your system off the cd, and it should take care of everything. You can do this yourself, though I really don't recommend it unless you feel you absolutely have to. If you do come to that conclusion, feel free to PM me and I'll help ya out.

Norton,that it should be updated.So far, everything can be updated on line! Irish
P.S.Sometimes my oldest daughter,will send me something from
work.The outline,of the picture,will be there but NO picture.This only happens from her work.She is secretary,for the Mayor of Dover,so it may be a Govt. thing.It doesn't happen if she uses her
home computer.

I have to tell ya that since I added the Google toolbar and popup blocker my puter troubles have almost completely disappeared. It has a spyware component of it's own but you can disable it.
