Finding Nemo: What'd ya think, mates?
I just came home from watching the cartoon Finding Nemo. I know it will sound really stupid, but I thought of all my friends here at Pixies who live in Augustralia as I watched it, especially the last third or so of the movie. "Seeing" Sydney and hearing the accents and some of the words used that I associate with Australia just made me think of every one of you. It made it so much more enjoyable and brought me an extra smile. If I could, I'd have stopped by and given every one of you a big hug! LOL
If anyone has a chance to see it, I highly recommend it, even if you DON'T take a kid along with you to watch it (I saw it by myself). If you go, let me know if you liked it.

I adored it but it touched something personal in me particularily. They was some thing I could identify with... I was *verklempt* a couple times. Oh the kids liked it too...even the way too cool for Disney stuff 12 year old I thought it was cute and there was more to the story lines than the trailers had led me to believe.

I agree, Lilith. My daughter asked me if it was as good as A Bug's Life, with all the clever lines and double meanings. I think A Bug's Life was better, but, like I said, I really did enjoy Finding Nemo, too.

Gotta say that altho I enjoyed it (as did my son) we both agree that it was good, but pales in comparison to Monster's Inc and all other Pixar movies. I was however very pleased that it offered such a positive father child storyline, sadly in our society such stories aren't depicted nearly enough.
Not sure if they are showing the same coming attractions in all theaters.. but one of the previews it showed here was the up and coming pixar movie scheduled for Nov 2004, The Invincibles... looks absolutely hysterical. Can't wait for that one...

I loved the surfer turtles, too! LOL
Oh, Tralis, I disagree about A Bug's Life. If you know very much about the insects represented in the movie, I think you'd find a lot of the lines hysterical and very clever. That's one reason I thought it was a better film for adults than for most kids, because a good bit of it would have been over the kids' heads.

We loved the movie. My wife and I had a "date" and went to see it. Absolutely delightful. BlueSwede, I think you're right that the story was more adult ... but the animations were fabulous. I'm sure the little ones would generally enjoy ... although ... and this is an aside ... the movie had hardly started when we heard a little guy (3 maybe) say to his mommy, "Mommy, this looks scary."
(PS Later we heard him laughing. )

I'm glad that you and your wife enjoyed Finding Nemo, too. However, the movie I was referring to when I said it was geared more for adults than kids was not Finding Nemo but the movie A Bug's Life. I said that a lot of the lines in A Bug's Life would be over a kid's head or at least over the head of someone who doesn't know much about the kinds of insects that were in that movie.

I havent seen it yet but have seen the early trailers not released here as yet.
I will make a judgement on the Aussie accents then. I can easily pick the fakes.

Good! I'd like to hear an expert's opinion about the accents.
