What a beautiful day we are enjoying right now! Ate lunch on the front porch, and sat with a coffee for a long time. Moved to a sunny patch of new grass in the sun for a bit, so i'm all set with vit. D. for awhile.

What a nice post. Very uplifting … something we need more of in these "social distancing" times.

I know my wife and I have enjoyed having more time to just be with each other. Sometimes we've gone for a ride, maybe to mail a letter or card, and sometimes we've just stayed home to be with each other. Both are good. Both are a blessing.

If you have the right mindset, every day can be a beautiful day-which is not to e turned on its head, and say if you're having a shitty day, it's your fault for not having the right mindset.

gg, I missed something..... Who turned my thoughts on its head?? (Do thoughts have a head to be turned onto??) I've had plenty of shitty days. Today was not one of them. I really was thinking of Julia Andrews in 'The Sound of music". I enjoyed the sunny day, my mindset was right where it needed to be. Guess I forgot to mention my husband retired 2 weeks ago, that in itself is enough to tip any bodies mind set but its him i'd like to share a doughnut with.

Pre-empting is the application, in advance, of a response to a counter argument. In this case:
1. The argument that it is empowering to an individual to be able to change his or her outlook to find happiness, possibly in spite of the shitty conditions that person is operating under.
2. This above argument is often turned on its head by oppressors, by asserting that if a person is not happy, regardless of shitty conditions imposed by the oppressors, than it is the person's fault, for not having developed the right mindset. This is disempowering, and for that reason, is often employed.

Therefore, I was pre-empting: stating that the counter-argument is invalid, before anyone could advance it.

Lot of people I know were born in August, typically, the local county fair is in August, Lughnasadh/Lúnasa, the beginning of the harvest season is the beginning of August, I could go on, but I think you get the idea.
