The New Year is Near

This year is almost over, and the preps have just begun,
To celebrate its ending and to begin another one.
The year has had it’s ups and downs, of that we can be sure,
No doubt the next one will as well, if COVID still is here.
But there always is a bright spot, which love can make so right,
For me it is my wife, morning, noon or night.
She’s the one I treasure most, she is my real best friend,
Especially when we love and kiss and reach climatic end.
It’s not too much to say out loud, “I’ll always be her man.”
And, I’ll cherish her ‘love's embrace’ in our bed or in a van;
And the New Year gives another chance to extend our sheer delight,
Making love both in the day and in the full moonlight.
