My S/O and I have tried a cockring (several in fact) . Sizing is important - the first one we got was much too small and it was terrible for him . We now have one that fits fairly well, from trial and error and it seems to do the job.
I am not sure he gets a sensation of his balls and shaft being held (will have to check with him) but it does make his cock really really hard for the time it is on. Looking back, a quick release model would be have been ideal because sometimes after he cums, he is very sensitive and it hurts some. He has worn it for extended periods for like an hour or more, but is not erect the whole time then. Hope this helps.
