I remember when he gave the speech, too, and agree w/what everyone else has said. And, yes, we've come very far and yet still have so far to go. I just finished talking to my daughter (who is biracial [black-white]) and her boyfriend (who is white) about places to live. They are planning to move in together. He is applying for a job that may transfer him to most anywhere in the country. My daughter is very aware of the fact that as a biracial person (seen as black by most) and as an interracial couple, they will still have to be careful about where they decide to live. Hopefully, someday, that's a discussion that won't be necessary.
