Personal experience tells me that that is SOB (standard operational bullshit) for getting disability from the govt. Few years back, I went thru the same nightmare; about 2 1/2 yrs passed between initial claim being filed & winning my appeal, couple more months for the first check. At first I thought that they assume that if your disability can't be seen, it doesn't exist, but a cousin actually lost an arm in an auto accident, & she had to lawyer up as well Really?!? These guys don't even see there's nothing there past the elbow?

Anyway, SF, here's hoping you have at least as much luck as I had (too late to wish you better luck ), but here's a happy thought for ya: if/when you do win your appeal, they have to pay you back pay from when they should have been paying before. Nice little lump sum to get.

Of course, it's gonna be 3 months till you read this, but hey...
