Ugh! I've never had a heating coil go (knock on woody). With ours, it's always been the belt that lets go so I've been able to do it myself. If only I could get someone to pay to watch my buttcrack while I fix it...that'd be GOLDEN!!!
First time I changed a dryer belt, I was in high school. My mother handed me the new belt and asked if I could do her a favor and install it. I didn't know you could open the top of the dryer (like a clamshell) and expose everything you need to, so I changed the belt by shoving my arm through the teeny tiny access hole at the bottom of the back of the machine. It was like building a ship in a bottle!
