I have a lot of wonderful tools & toys for my perving, but binoculars are not among them. Like Lixy, I own a number of sets and have many other uses for them.
Nature watching of any type gets a big help with a pair of binoculars, and when combined with your camera, helps you prep your shot before moving up to the point of effecting the subject. Especially good for close watching of wild hymenoptera colonies. ![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif) When used in the woods with a simple kids toy similar to this, I can find find things I wouldn't have known were there.
Star gazing (sky watching actually) is a natural for larger events like comets or eclipses. Very handy for sharing observation and sparking others interest when tripod mounted.
A more practical use I get better at each years is the avoidance of ladders. Simple roof and gutter inspection with binoculars can eliminate a lot of climbing around or at least minimize it to only the necessary climbs. Tracing multiple generations of wiring and piping on old factory ceilings is one of my favorite pastimes. ![hair pull](images/smilies/hairpull.gif)
