Called to action- not your typical hero

I have been thinking over the last couple of days about people who because of tragedy or some turning point in their lives, take the lead and make things better for all of us. Particularily on my mind this week is Mark Lunsford. His young daughter was raped and murdered (buried alive) by a sex offender who was staying with his sister in a home not far from where his daughter lived. There were some shocking aspects to the whole case because police basically missed her there, where she was kept alive and tortured prior to her death.

What amazes me is that you look at this man, hardly what people would think of when they think of activist, but he has been able to have child protection laws (and in some areas police procedures) tightened drastically not only in my state but in many other states as well. I'm just thinking that there must be a lot of other "heroes" out there, doing what must be done. Do you have any heroes like that?

Mr. Lunsford was able to face his daughter's killer this week and I can only hope it gives him a small measure of peace.
