At the time I tested, the total participants was 72,668. I used that number to figure my percentages. I found that dropping the bottom 272 scores of less than 10 correct for a better mean average would only change my result by less than 0.4%. I found it encouraging that over 93.5% did better than a coin toss average and over 79% had better than 2/3 correct. Keeping in mind that my figures are percentages of their percentages, I don't know what it all means but there are some surprise to certain questions.
I was surprised to see that two highest age groups that made up the 55+ had the highest average score of 22 and was 14% of the test takers. The combined age groups of 14-44 all shared the same score average of 20. Ages 45-54 had the in between score of 21 and only the group of 13 and under scored 19 on average. Does this reflect the life involvements of family and job?
I tested in a 3% slot of the top 12% but was surprised to see only 1.3% maxed the quiz. The largest group score averages from the total taking the test was 5.5% with the score of 21.
The best numbers came from the state/province taking the test. YES! Provinces. They had some of our wonderful neighbors interested in doing the quiz. I doubt any of the states would have done as well on Canadian citizenship as the Yukon did on American. The REAL kicker came from the highest average score of 23 from anywhere, was from Newfoundland and Labrador. Higher than from any US state.
I found it interesting that the two states of California and Texas made up 11.5% of all the people taking the test, with an average score of 21 for each. Ten states (Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, and Texas,) made up 26.5% of the 61 states, provinces (and that one district with state rights and no state responsibilities

) with over 1,000 each taken the test, even though they were only 16.5% of the total. I don't know if that just reflects population size but Arizona and Georgia being in there makes me think not.
I found the tables given at the end to be interesting.
