One way to detect the tiniest of leaks is to dry the suspect area COMPLETELY with a towel, then with a flashlight and toilet tissue, watch and wipe each joint, one at a time.
If there is a question about any seepage in the toilet, add red food coloring to the filled tank and wait ½ hour to inspect the bowl for any trace of color.
(red because all cleaners that could leave the smallest residue are any color BUT red. )
