Oh, fuck, here we go again

I just talked to my girlfriend's husband. She's back in the hospital, admitted from the ER last night. She's been in a lot of pain & bleeding for the past week. They're trying to give her a transfusion; it took 19 sticks for them to get an IV into her just for the pain meds-2mg Demerol per 3 hours. Insufficient flow for transfusion, they're going to have to bring an anesthesiologist & put her under tomorrow for the actual transfusion.

I'm kind of freaking out here.

Let us hope that was the worst of her problems!

19 sticks!! Ouchie!! Seems they should have given her a pic-line. Not sure if that work have helped or not.

Hope she's better soon.

I hope everything works out for the best.

Well, that's apparently what they're trying to do today-don't know why they have to sedate her for it, but shit.

Isn't a pic line basically an iv that's straight into the heart? I would imagine that type of procedure would be quite painful.

They put it in the upper arm, on the inside. It goes in a vein up the arm and close but not into the heart. It's not painful to have and when I got mine it was with a local, not completely sedated.

Well, as it turns out, the sedation was at her request-however, the request was not honored. And yes, they did do a PICC line. Tried calling her last night, see how everythign went, but all I got was voice mail, so I'm not sure if she's still in the hospital, or has gotten home yet.

We'll keep her in our prayers, that's for sure.
