to go to Australia

My problem is where shall I go to live when I first go? I kinda hope you whom are now in or have been in Australia can guide my initial location for residence when I pack up & pick up & go. NSW looks good on the map, but how about the other territories?

The southern East Coast, Brisbane to Melbourne is probably a good place to learn about the lay of the land, and wander till you're comfortable.

A bit like Pixies, really.

Has Immigration said they'd let you stay?

Just tell them that you know a Pixie nicknamed OldFart. That oughta' do it! :)

I'd check it out on the government website, but unless you have a trade listed as desirable, shitloads of money or meet another criterion, you may find Oz as hard to get permanence as Mayhem did in the States. Mentioning me may help, but Sharni probably has more clout.

Well I suppose it depends on what your body is used to in regards to temperature. The reason I say this is simple, down here it gets hot and I don't mean just a bit warm, I mean HOT.....at least 38cels days if not higher during summer.

Queensland tends to get the tropic type weather, vic and nsw tend to get the dry heat. Citrus unless you have been here in the past for a holiday it is hard to say where you should make arrangements to put up your tent as it were.

If you have been here, then the east coast is definatley on the books there. The mid and west states tend to be even hotter than 40+.

South Australia is the driest state and very hot. Winters are mild.

Celsius (centigrade) to Fahrenheit formula is: C9/5+32

Does anyone else have the Trace Atkins song Southern Hallelujah going through their head now?

citrus 04-13-2009 11:00 AM

ty PF I googled it on maps. Then found it @ -25 20' 38.40 +131 2' 9.60 on Google Earth! Lots of pictures. A VERY BIG rock! Looks like a hike around the thing has many interesting sites too.
