Long Range Goals

Are you a person who plans and dreams about the future? Or do you fly by the seat of you pants figuring that things will turn out how they are supposed to? Are you a little of both?

What things do you plan in advance or for your future?

imaginewithme 05-10-2006 06:56 AM

I'm a little of both. Well, I guess Mr. IWM balances it all out and keeps me real.
I don't want big things out of life really. I will be self employed by the end of the year so of course I hope that goes well.

Our daughter is almost 7 months old and we already have her savings plan set up for education later down the road. When I found out I was pregnant we paid everything (except the house) off so we could be as debt free as possible just so things might be a little easier.

Did I even answer the question???

Life is an outline with only topics at the bottom of the page and nothing but sub-sub notes at the top.

(and the last topic will not get sub notes)

im kind of a long term thinker but at the moment I only have one goal... To get married to the wonderful Lizz, after that we can plan the rest together.

I try to plan ahead but as life changes everyday i end up taking it as the dice roll

gekkogecko 05-10-2006 09:25 AM

Oh, I make plans. But remember, no plan ever survives first contact with the enemy.

LOL@ gg

I make lots of plans. The ones that are more short-term only have a 50-50 chance of surviving....mostly because I think I have good gut instincts, so I tend to do what they tell me in the short term.

I *do* have lots of long-term goals, though. My MBA is my first step in a plan of achieving them. I want to start a for-profit company and employ disadvantaged workers -- I will give them good day care, health care, educational assistance, on the job training, and opportunity for promotions. I'm starting to write the business plan this summer, and I've already recruited 2 people from my MBA program and another person from my current job to come be founders.

Outside of that, I plan some day in the next 5-10 years to have kids. 2 of them. And I plan to stay healthy and happy for as long as I am able.

Geez, I hope those ^^ plans don't change. :)

I try to plan...well i call em dreams actually lol

But i'm more of a fly by the seat of my pants gal....all shit happens for a reason and its gonna happen anyway even if ya stress yaself out...so why bother stressin'

Oldfart 05-10-2006 01:40 PM

I do some minor planning ahead, but mostly I'm reactive.

My work shifts change just enough that I cannot plan ahead with any certainty.

i am like pantyfanatic, i like a kind of general idea... like prompts for a speach.

I don't like things to be too precisely planned.... too easy to become obsessed with the route and miss the scenery.

However, financial things, housing etc need to be a little stricter.

jay-t 05-10-2006 05:40 PM

I kind of take it as it comes and roll with the punches. Some things there's a plan but I like doing things on the spur of the moment too.On the money side its planned throughly otherwise grab your panties and toothbrush and lets go!

I use to be more of a dreamer then a planner. But, now that I have a new life I have many new plans. I am currently studying for my GED and will start classes at the technical college in the fall to get my associates degree in Retail Management. After that, I hope to open my own children’s consignment store.

I plan to buy a house, drive a bitchin car and most importantly get the excess weight off my body so I will look DAMN sexy naked!

I plan to get my daughter through high school, into college and pray she will be a happy and well adjusted adult.

I plan to love my man with all I am for as long as I possibly can! :)

I remember Summer was a planner. Always was working on plans. I'm putting forth great effort to plan a bit more detailed.

Winston77 05-10-2006 10:53 PM

I find long term goals for me are always changing, so I just take it one day at a time

LixyChick 05-11-2006 05:03 AM

I've always found that the best laid plans always get a snag or two which change the course of said plan.

Two times in my life I flew by the seat of my pants. One Canadian vacation with no detailed plans at all turned out to be the best vacation we've ever taken! Also...the time we set off for parts of Florida unknown, no job prospects, sold all my worldly belongings except my scuba gear, car, and cat...and ended up in Key Largo...was the Best 5 month vacation of my life!

I think if I plan or dream I end up unconsciensiously sabbotaging it somehow. That's probably from my upbringing.
