Talent vs. Ineptitude

Everyone here is so unique and I have often wondered what each of you feels is your special talent. It can be anything you do particularily well. Or something unusual you can do that others may not be able to...... (if one of you can lick your eyebrows you sould PM me privately;):p;) )

Along the same line I wonder what you suck at? What just defies the laws of practical application in your life? What escapes you?

Grumble 04-23-2002 01:14 AM

ummmm ...welllllllll

Geez Lil thats a hard one not talking about the one eyed trouser snake either :D
What am I good at apart from losing my car keys?
well I think I am good at organising things at sporting clubs ect., good at being friendly and caring and I have been told I am good at oral.:p

I am bloody hopeless at sewing and winning arguments with the female gender, never seem to be able to get the last word in somehow :redghost:

Bilbo 04-23-2002 02:50 AM

very analytical
Production cost, requirements
whole of life costing, daily running costs,
Plant machinery and operator efficiencies,

yeah I know boring you shitless

Lilith 04-23-2002 04:42 AM

Not at all Bilbo~ That is exactly what I was looking for! When you know what someone feels their strengths and weaknesses are, you can see them just a little bit clearer. Helps me choose my victims :p
Like now I know not to ask GG to darn my socks but ("I have been told I am good at oral.", GG) there does seem to be something he can take care of for me;)

Sugarsprinkles 04-23-2002 05:41 AM

I think my biggest strength is that I can be a very good friend. I'm also a very good listener, always there with a shoulder when needed and I try hard not to be judgemental. I would do almost anything for a true friend.
(somehow, I sound more like a puppy....:p

One of my weaknesses would be that I tend to give too much of myself in some relationships. And leave myself wide open to be hurt.
Another is that I don't have an artistic bone in my body! I can't draw worth a hill o' beans! I can visualize it but can't get the image down through the arm to the hand and on to the paper. I can barely draw stick figures! LOL! :D

Oldfart 04-23-2002 05:52 AM

I can balance a clitoris on my tongue for ages.

Reverend Silky 04-23-2002 06:24 AM

always remember, yer unique... just like everybody else.

mindboxer505 04-23-2002 08:26 AM

Well Lilith I'm patient with teaching new people in my taekwondo classes......to those that get through my ''personal space barrier'', I'm a very good friend... I can darn socks and sew a little....I'm the one in our house that does all the repair work on clothes.....

As to what i suck at.......dont ask me to cook.....unless you are ready to go out for a meal.......I'm a constant worry-wart about the friendships I do make sometimes.....especially when I dont hear from them for a while...and I'm lousy at starting a project/chores......but once I get going.....look out !!!!!

RandyGal 04-23-2002 09:35 AM

heh heh heh in my sleepy haze i'd say old fart has the best talent!

thanks for making me giggle today hon!

**note to self. look for the balancing clitori act when at the circus. it just MIGHT be my old friend, oldfart. :D :p :D :p

raraa 04-23-2002 10:08 AM

she said it must be my gay side comeing out

weekness is spelling and grammer:fish:

sadora 04-23-2002 11:27 AM

I think my best strength would have to be that I am best under pressure. I can make something out of nothing without many problems. When tough times come up, that comes in very handy.

Weakness- anything to do with math.... is like trying to figure out an alien language to me!

I want to know what kind of circus you go too....I've never seen that act..

Radies 04-23-2002 11:40 AM

Strong points:Martial Arts, math, and useless movie triva

weak points: women and keeping a clean room

legend 04-23-2002 12:09 PM

strength: maths/science
weakness: what the hell is a moderate oven? what is that dial on the iron for? what are the brushes on the vacuum for? :D

icecreamthighs 04-23-2002 12:36 PM

strength - i know a little about everything

weakness - i insist on telling people ! lol

GermanSteve 04-23-2002 12:58 PM

Strength: good computing teacher for beginners, broad knowledge spectrum
weakness: canīt easily say no, canīt bring anything to an end, bad at deciding.

Aqua 04-23-2002 01:03 PM

Well, I have a strength and weakness all rolled in one...

Like the old saying goes; Jack of all trades, master of none.

I can do a lot of things really good (and some not so good ;) ), but I have never been the best at anything.

(Oh yeah, as far as something that escapes me... Boy, do I suck at math! :p )

vampeyes 04-23-2002 03:08 PM

talent / strength - I can take care of things and people always have ... I am always the one to make sure everything is done.
(also not to mention the amazing things I can do with my tongue :) )

but my major downfall is I stress about anything and everything

big_yin 04-23-2002 03:21 PM

What am I good at? maths, sports and i'm told I have lots of patience, spoiling anything I cook!. Bad at? em, well...........................
......let me see........................
....................decisions????
cooking, (unless it involves the microwave), trusting people and keeping secrets!

kimmer22 04-23-2002 07:45 PM

I work at 7-11 so I know like the price of everything in the store...I'm also good at making change...too good. One time I looked at the clock....it was 2:45 and I thought oh..it's 55 cents to the hour...LOL :D
I can play 4 different instruments...trumpet, baritone, clarinet, and piano.
I kick ass at Tetris!

As for what I suck at....I have a short temper...especially at work.
I have problems managing people...delegation I guess. I have a hard time saying NO, and being assertive...this all goes along with my job, I'm a shift manager and I have to be assertive...and it's hard for me...

scotzoidman 04-24-2002 12:05 AM

The Music Perfesser is really good at music trivia... I play guitar, some keyboards, flute, strongest talent is the bass... I can cook all the basic stuff so the family doesn't starve...
Weaknesses, most stem from low self-esteem, never really stand up for myself, so I never get the good jobs or the pay I deserve...

souls_cry2000 04-24-2002 12:13 AM

strength: Well I can eat a peach for hours ;)...Oh besides that. It would have to be my ability to listen. I've been told I'm a good listener.

weakness: I sometimes look for certainty in a world that has no such animal.

danziggy 04-24-2002 08:19 AM

strength ~ I suppose cooking would be one

weakness ~ Maths and making decisions in the home.

Hmmm care to show me Oldfart???? :fly: :D :D

Murphy 04-24-2002 12:40 PM

I would have to say that, besides being a generous and considerate lover, writing and verbal illustrations are my strengths. My weaknesses are the mundane day-to-day chores of life....I'll let 'em slip if a friend needs afew kind words..

Lilith 03-03-2011 09:39 PM

I forgot about this one. Lots of newer members have not answered.

Lord Snow 03-03-2011 10:32 PM

Lots of newer members were unaware that such a thread exists.......

My strength is my weakness....I'm just fine being alone, but in doing so I tend to forget to let people in. Depressing isn't it?

wyndhy 03-04-2011 10:42 AM

only if you let it be^^

picking only one thing each, cause i'm good at so many things and bad at so many more. i'm sucker for a few things as well
strength: cooking
weakness, temptation-wise: reading
weakness, character flaw-wise: i wig out and then regret it

Aqua 03-04-2011 04:31 PM

Great bump, Lil! Can't say that my answer has changed much... but I don't think I'm quite as bad at math as I used to be.

Oldfart 03-04-2011 06:42 PM

Can we count on that?

I'm still ept.

Aqua 03-04-2011 09:10 PM

Let me sum it up for you... totally.

dicksbro 03-06-2011 08:01 AM

Not one of the newbies, but I noticed I'd never responded to this thread. So, here goes ...

I enjoy art and photography and in helping others where I can. Probably the three most important things in my life are the three "F's" ... faith, family and friends.

Not very talented when it comes to woodworking or gardening (although I sure admire people that are).

jay-t 03-06-2011 09:17 PM

Metalworking give me a piece of steel and I'll make a tool or a pretty

Math - I went to school one day and the teacher said 2+2=4 I'm a happy little boy
the next day she says 1+3= 4 I've been screwed ever since!

PantyFanatic 03-07-2011 01:15 AM

Something I'm good at?

I'm thinking.

Oldfart 03-07-2011 01:19 AM

Sounds like craps to me.

Lilith 03-07-2011 05:47 AM

ha ha ha ha ha ha.

BamaKyttn 03-30-2011 06:52 AM

I have found a talent at work for making people I consider acquaintances feel like my best friend. Men and women seem to open up to me and tell me things that are none of my business or ask to be involved in aspects of my life that are none of theirs.

I'm also really good at procrastination.

AZRedHot 03-30-2011 10:33 AM

Talent: I have a facility with words, and I'm a good singer.

Ineptitude: Sports. Actually, I'm pretty kinesthetically challenged all around...the spirit is usually willing, but the flesh is weak in so many ways.

scotzoidman 03-30-2011 01:07 PM

Interesting to review my response from, what, 9 years ago? Strengths haven't changed, really, but low self-esteem and/or getting good jobs w/good pay are no longer a concern. The round trip to Hell & back took care of that.
I suck at a lot of things, but I don't let that keep me from doing what I really wanna do anymore...like singing in key or playing lead guitar.

I guess my biggest weakness now is lack of patience with people in general; I can no longer suffer fools gladly.
