Mouse...grrrrr

No not the critter type! The stoopid ones that go with ya puter!

I am just not having any luck *L*

I bought a new one, a cordless, yep, that was the culprit in my puter meltdown not long back, nothing but problems, sooooo it went to god!

We put another one on it, and i True Blood surfing to my little hearts content and what happens, me scrolly wheel thingy shits itself!!

Grrrrrrrr....sorry, feel like crap & felt the need to whinge *L*

Lilith 08-24-2009 06:36 PM

I have 2 cordless ones but I get so frickin' aggitated when the batteries die.

Fangtasia 08-24-2009 06:45 PM

My puter doesnt like the cordless ones eh. Not in any way shape or form!

The second mouse i put on it was a cord type one and thats the one the wheel has crapped itself, mind you the second mouse isnt new, its an old one that came originally with Bilbos puter, so its 7yrs old *L* Prolly due to die at that age. But frustrates me that it has to do it now *L*

Oldfart 08-24-2009 07:14 PM

I thought you bred mouses?

Fangtasia 08-24-2009 10:12 PM

Wrong meeces *L*

gekkogecko 08-25-2009 09:52 AM

I'm fond of the track-ball mouse I use. Yes, it's corded.

PantyFanatic 08-25-2009 11:19 AM

**Puts hands over ears, looks up at the sky and begins to chant**

LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA ............

**Crosses fingers, knocks on wood, throws salt over shoulder, throws dog over shoulder, throws cat over shoulder but NOT mouse**

Don't even say "dead mouse"!!!

Like GG, I have a trackball that I love and have been afraid to even say out loud has been in service a loooong time. A year or so ago I started looking for a possible backup because of the every-day use it has given me and was dumbfounded when I first found it is not available and secondly when I found that I was not the only one with the desire and the want to have a replacement. To find that what was a $60 new item (over priced at the time in my mind), is now getting $200-$300 for a "used" one is mind boggling to me. This link will summarize the unreal story of this item, but the thought of not having it and forced to use a trackball like I have at work is terrifying to me. :faint:

Lord Snow 08-25-2009 11:27 AM

I've never been fond of trackballs personally. I don't seem to have as much control (though it may be to much control) as with my laser mice (two computers two mice). Both are cordless and I don't have any problems with them till the batteries start to die. Though I only have to replace the batteries every few months or so. On my desktop I have a wireless keyboard and mouse set up by Logitech and the mouse I use with my laptop is also Logitech. I haven't replaced the batteries in my keyboard yet and I've had it a few years.

Aqua 08-25-2009 02:23 PM

Sorry you're having mouse problems. :( They can certainly be aggravating buggers.

I've just stuck with corded and it's working out good for me. I did just find a handy program that works with my phone so I can use it as a wireless mouse and keyboard. Could come in handy when I get my media center set up.

Fangtasia 08-25-2009 10:31 PM

I wont do cordless mice again on this puter, just not worth the aggrevation *L*

Prolly will pick up either a corded laser or ball mouse this weekend to replace this one, as i REALLY need my scrolly thing back *L*

Oldfart 08-26-2009 01:13 AM

I don't think you can get ball mouses any more.

Booger 08-26-2009 01:36 PM

Oh sure you can I saw Andrew Zimmern eating them on the Travel Channel's Bizarre Foods.

Funny you should bring it up...

I hate those meeces to pieces!!!

I, too, had a wonderful trackball (given to me by a gamerGeek co-worker), & when it finally gave up the ghost, I was surprised to find no one else in the house wanted another one as replacement. So, back to cheap disposable mice, replaced as needed, with no problems...until just after I moved up the XP! Every mouse, ball or optical, I've used since has caused jumping problems; I go to click on a link, & the page jumps just before the click, causing me to click on crap I would never intentionally link to. Now, the latest desktop vermin has decided to misbehave even more, left clicker doesn't hold for drag & drop ops any more...& yeh, I tried a wireless set (keyboard & mouse), mouse worked ok, but the keyboard was way too slow to respond to fast typing.

I've got a new Dell optical on its way from KY, hoping against hope that matching brands with the puter will fix the weirdness.

And yes, there are still some deals to be had on ball mice at Ebay....apparently lots of obsolete models being cleared out. My guess is that Ebay.AU would have a similar situation...

Jude30 08-26-2009 10:04 PM

I refuse to use a cordless mouse. I hate them almost as much as I hate printers. Unless you're dropping $100 on a GOOD Logitech or better brand they suck. When I can detect the time lag between click and action on the screen there's a problem.

My current mouse is the Logitech Mx518, I love it. Adjustable sensitivity, forward, and back buttons, and all for under $50.

Scotz are you installing the software and running your Windows updates? Because those are the only things I have ever found that gave me problems with optical mice.

Fangtasia 08-26-2009 10:48 PM

I generally only buy logitech. The cordless optical i bought was not cheap, i had no time lag problems, but it caused my puter to freeze, turn off and other weird crap *L* So i'll just stay away from cordless completely on this puter. On a new one, if it happens *sigh* i'd happily go cordless.

I do prefer the optical meeces to the ball type anyway, so that is more than likely the type i'll replace with. The one on it is a Compaq optical mouse, and it has been brilliant upto the scrolly thingy crapping out, mind you it came with the puter originally and has had LOTS of use *L*

PantyFanatic 08-27-2009 02:07 AM

Can you believe this? :banghead:

$91.00 for a used trackball and 'reserve not met'

Bilbo 08-27-2009 04:09 AM

This is Fangtasia using Bilbo's puter.

Fucken mice!! Bought a new mouse, put it on, now my puter gets to a blue screen, and stops. Ya wait and eventually it shuts down

Fuck fuck fuck! I have no patience for the bitchin'thing at this time, so dunno when i'll get back!!

Fangtasia 08-27-2009 01:07 PM

Well i'm still on Bilbos puter :(

Ill drop by using his when i can, as honestly we cannot at this stage figure out wtf my puter's prob is!

VERY frustrating

themi01 08-27-2009 07:37 PM

Write down the blue screen message I might be able to help you

Fangtasia 08-27-2009 07:48 PM

There wass no message on the screen hun, just a plain blue screen it gave me

I got home from work today to the puter working again, so Bilbo must have figured it out *L*

Fangtasia 08-28-2009 05:14 AM

Well the fucker is still not running right. Apparently Bilbo didn't touch it, it just decided to work, and did so til just now.

Puter just shut down in the middle of surfing, tried to restart, got the dreaded blue screen, then black screen. Finally i can hear and see the puter still working, then it shuts down!!

Honestly i'm sooooooo over it.

Lord Snow 08-28-2009 08:23 AM

:fix: hit any key to continue.

CuteCoupleOz 08-28-2009 05:37 PM

All this and more is the reason I lovingly call them the blasted boxes from hell!!

PantyFanatic 08-28-2009 08:50 PM

You were just having too much fun at Pixies and your puter wants to make you appreciate it more. ;)

Fangtasia 08-28-2009 09:25 PM

I've commandeered Bilbos puter *L* So i can still pop in.

Mine is still being a bastard though, i've tried to start it 3 times this morning, no luck!!

scotzoidman 08-28-2009 11:50 PM

So far, so good. The Dell mouse is behaving.

I just know that soon it's gonna be crawling off the desktop, raiding the fridge at night for cheese, & scurrying behind the baseboards at night...pass the DeCon...

Lord Snow 08-29-2009 11:41 AM

Get a cat. They're great micers.

I missed what you said about the blue screen when I first read this thread. Several months ago, my 'puter did the same thing. I ended up having to reinstall everything including windows. Have you tried that, yet?

---kathy

Fangtasia 08-29-2009 06:57 PM

I'm back on my puter, it finally restarted, so am busy copying stuff i dont want to lose off onto disk, incase the damn thing decides to do it again!

I did a reinstall only a few months ago, so i'm thinking its not a software problem
