If you can read this

you are too close...I hate that bumper sticker :p

I was thinking about how so many of us spend so much time in our cars on the road with a zillion other cars. You are surrounded by people and yet no one is communicating. I think this is one of the reasons why cell phone use while driving is so high despite being 4 times more likely to wreck while using one than not using one. One of the few ways we comunicate with other drivers, with the exception of the occasional eye contact or hand gesture, is through our bumper stickers.

I am a bumper sticker whore. I love places like stickergiant. I buy them for me and for friends as well. Sometimes just pretty ones, sometimes ones that express views that they have shared with me.

Do you have bumper stickers on your car, truck, suv, etc.??? If not, why? Have you seen one that you like but don't have?

IAKaraokeGirl 07-17-2005 11:27 AM

OMG, Lil--that is the best link!

Lilith 07-17-2005 11:30 AM

yeah I could live there. I like it cause they have a wide variety of view points represented.

Cheyanne 07-17-2005 11:55 AM

LOL.... What would Scooby Do? :D

I have:

Well behaved women rarely make history.

Speak your mind even if your voice shakes.

Children know everything.

Trick me once shame on you, trick me twice shame on you again cause that's not very nice.

I have this great BITCH sticker but It would probably not go over too well sitting in the school parking lot :D

jay-t 07-17-2005 12:02 PM

I had one on a car that had been rearended it was a big bandaid that said "Bless This Mess" I always wanted to have one made for the wifes car that said "don't get me confused or excited I might wet my pants " but I know what would happen if I did!!

Cheyanne 07-17-2005 12:03 PM

We don't put bumperstickers on our cars. In fact, I don't like that sticker thing that dealers put on cars to let everyone know where the vehicle was purchased either...the next time we buy the car we are going to ask for 10% off if the dealer does't remove that free advertising banner.. lol

The reason I don't put them on is because I am afraid that I will get tailgated in order for the person behind me to read them.. :(

BIBI 07-17-2005 12:15 PM

I used to have on my car at different times....."Boldly Going Nowhere" and "Don't Follow Me, I'm Lost" The one I have now says "Maybe The Hokey Pokey Is What It's All About".

The funniest experience regarding a bumper sticker I had, was with my mom when I was 18. We pulled up behind a truck and the bumper sticker said "Honk If Your Horny". My mom starts to lean on the horn and the guy in the truck started to throw his arms around and you could see he was cursing...yelling....looked like he was having his ass bit he was bouncing around so much. THEN it hit him and he just waved back to my mom looking sheepish.

Cheyanne 07-17-2005 12:28 PM

^^^^^^^^^lol

rabbit 07-17-2005 12:38 PM

No bumper stickers on my car because I don't like the look of 'em.

My wife has three on her car. She likes 'em.

FallenAngel5 07-17-2005 01:45 PM

I love bumper stickers, but alas, have no car. :)

But, being the liberal college student that I am, I just bought 12 dollars worth of buttons from that site. LOL. Thanks Lil.

lakritze 07-17-2005 03:44 PM

The only sticker on my car is the little round AAA emblum. Been a proud member since 1971.

dicksbro 07-17-2005 07:10 PM

None on our cars. The advertising can ride on the car in front. :)

Had a friend who told a dealer NOT to put his dealer sticker on the new car he ordered. When the car got there, it had the sticker. He told them take it off, order a new car, or deduct $200 for the advertisting. They deducted the $200. Hmmmmm.

LixyChick 07-17-2005 07:31 PM

Only two stickers on my truck...one says KW (which stands for Key West) and it's on the rear window...not the bumper. The other is is my AAA sticker, for obvious reasons.

I don't like the look of them when they get old.

I am of the notion that everyone should have as sticker that states their cell phone number loud and proud. It'd keep more people from being such assholes if all we had to do was phone them and yell into their ear instead of into the air!

If we can't have stickers for that...could we at least make the license plate the number...huh...huh?

Lilith 07-17-2005 07:35 PM

oh I guess I didn't mention mine are not on the bumper...they are on the window like Lixy's.

thereIam 07-17-2005 08:48 PM

I placed a bumber sticker on my wifes car once. It read "Don't tailgate me, or I'll flick a booger on your windshield".

I did not tell her that it was there...

One of the more popular bumper stickers in Cleveland is …

[*HONK* if you’ve never heard an UZI fired ]

Good for your friend!!! :line:

Mine have been that way since the 80’s, but it HAS to be written into the purchase agreement. I found that out after a verbal agreement. :hair:

Mercury_Maniac 07-17-2005 10:10 PM

One of my personal favorites.

Honk if your horn is broken.
and
Yes I Found him, I have Jesus in the trunk!
or
If you smoke the pot, your banana will rot :D

wyndhy 07-18-2005 09:58 AM

i love to read em. one of my faves is the fish that has legs and says darwin in the body...like the christian one but with a twist.

i don't have any stickers on my car except for the PBA ones we get when we donate....i'm pretty sure it's led a few coppers to go easy on me. :D

MilkToast 07-19-2005 06:57 AM

None on my car either... my SUV has a small American flag decal on the window... I like it so it stays there. At one point I did have an alumni sticker on the window of my last car... but when I got the new one I did not want to put anything on it.

I was amazed that I parked the new car (a few years ago now) next to another one like it and then I noticed that my dealer had not put any decals on it! I actually called them to thank them for it. The only advertising they put on was a license plate frame (which I replaced).

Aqua 07-19-2005 11:03 AM

None on my car. If I do any stickers they will be small and in the window. Although my last car had a rather large one in the back window. *shrugs* It has to be perfectly me or it's not going on my car.

sama1005 07-19-2005 11:29 AM

Don't have any bumper stickers as I know how close I have to get to read them and don't like others tailgating me. I did put a silver emblem of my favorite NFL team on the mini-van as I got tired of not being able to tell which car was mine. Right after we bought, there were two parked side-by-side. I spent five minutes during a down poor trying to get into them but my keys wouldn't work in either one. I looked up and saw mine on the next row over. DOH!!

east 07-19-2005 01:03 PM

no bumper stickers here either. i usually pull them off if i get a car with them on, though i do find them funny. i just don't like stickers, i worry about the paint job. on the glass is where i would put them.

RandyGal 07-19-2005 01:26 PM

I collect funny bumper stickers and put 'em on the fridge with magnets.

That way I can read 'em a million times a day and it don't matter HOW close I get to 'em.

EXCELLENT link Lilith! Thankyou!!

Galatea 07-19-2005 01:35 PM

I have 2 on my bumper right now because I had a wreck and there were 2 holes chipped in it so I just got bumper stickers and put over it. I wanted one of those bumper sticker band-aids but I couldn't find one. One says "Well today was a total waste of make-up" And the other is a homestarrunner sticker that just says 'seriously.'

lizzardbits 07-19-2005 01:51 PM

i have stickers ALL over my van, it is my way of saying that i may drive a mini van, but i am NOT a soccer mom, lol

over the years i have decorated many cars with window stickers and these are my two favorites

on my 1990 maroon Chevy Cavilier's Back window right above the 3rd brake light, "Sex instructor, first lesson free!" (and btw the sticker site has one that is very similar to my old one :D)

on my 1994 Pontiac Trans Sport minivan on the back gate "Friends don't let friends have Mullets" i am anti mullet....they must be stopped....LOL and over in the UK a version of the mullet is in style now AAHHHHHH NNOOOOOOOOO!

Stickers are like tattoos for cars.

Lilith 07-19-2005 02:00 PM

During elections I make my own stickers/signs to convey why I think it's important to vote or vote in a specific way. It was easier when I drove a mini van. My little car's windows are too tiny for me to get too political.

lizzardbits 07-19-2005 02:39 PM

i did something of the same nature with making my own signs, but for different reasons.

i used to live in a very touristy part of iowa (yeah we get tourists in iowa, dumbass tourists, LOL) As a local and trying to deal with 1685547464684668465216471665 people who DON'T know where they are going, i got fed up and took window chalk and wrote all over my van.

"Grumpy Local, get out of my way!"
"If it is tourist season, why cant we shoot them?"
"Learn how to drive, or go home!"

I got passed by some local cops when i was on my way to work and i saw them laughing and they gave me a thumbs up :thumb: And a few other locals would stop and say something like they were glad that someone was ballsy enough to say something. LOL i wasn't ballsy, just pissy

sama1005 07-19-2005 03:16 PM

Iowa tourist season. Isn't that an oxymoron? (I drive trhough IA 4 or 5 times a year between Minneapolis and KC or Dallas) Favorite bumber sticker along this subject I saw in Branson MO. I.O.W.A. Idiots Out Wandering Around. :D

nikki1979 07-19-2005 05:04 PM

i used to have a really cool fairy on my last car but it got totalled and i cant find the replacment ,ill have to look thu that site!!! right now on the jeep we have a NRA life member sticker and thats it
