I'm about to be very brave and go into a sex toy store all by myself this afternoon...

We have a well known high street chain in the UK called Ann Summers who kind of take the sleaze out of the sex toy industry, but I'm afraid I've never gone in a 'proper' sex shop.

I sent Fussy in to one once for some videos, but I stayed outside, driving the get away car!

I'm 43 and several years ago I took a girl (K) I worked with, who had just turned 21, to a toy shop. She is legally blind and when she would pick up something she would hold it very close to her face and then, as she was a very talkative and loud person, she would yell across the store...OMG T, what is this for!!! lmao

She had a blast, as did the store clerk. We still pester K about her very first shopping experience and I'm sure the store clerk has enjoyed telling this story..lol

I felt a little bit nervous as I drove into the parking lot of the little strip mall it is in...but soon saw a middle aged woman go inside. So I think seeing that gave me an extra boost of confidence. I took a deep breath and walked inside as casually as I could.

Several of the customers in the store actually were college aged girls looking at lingerie and toys, and there were a few husbands/wives shopping for videos and toys. I was also glad to see others my age. I felt a little weird looking at the books and DVD's with couples who were old enough to be my parents. It was a little hard not to laugh when this 50-something lady shows her hubby some kind of Bend Over Boyfriend video. Then she was asking if she should buy a strap-on...

I perused the store rathing than making a beeline to the area with the toy displays. I looked at bachelorette party stuff, some lingerie, books, and finally toys. I was very tempted by the dark chocolate body frosting!

My plan was to buy a vibe, a dildo, and possibly a DVD. I came out of the store with the vibe and the movie. This was a hands-on store and I wasn't that impressed with the dildo. I was envious of some of the neat toys they had! Some were soo expensive, like the beautiful glass dildos, which I would've really loved to try out. The only thing that made me really uncomfortable was taking the display vibe up to the counter so the clerk could get it out of the back room. Then she took it out of its box to make sure it was working correctly, and told me about proper care of it.

*sigh of relief*

Well I conquered one of my fears (I am so proud of myself!!!), and I THINK I would go back again when the mood strikes me. ;)

Hehe congrats BCG, glad in the end it turned out to be somewhat of an enjoyable adventure for you. Actually having some anxiety is not an unexpected thing, I remember the first time I went into a sex shop with a friend of mine I felt sort of weird, but exciting at the same time (I must say it was a turn on to see so many beautiful women in the store checking out toys, ect lol). Lol I was the only man in the store at that time, so I did feel sort of out of place only because I was outnumbered, anyway, enjoy your toy and DVD!

Superb BCG! Very proud of you. I love the glass dildo I have but I got it for a lot less than I have seen them at stores. I got it from Adam & Eve and they do have an online store. Fairly reasonably priced there and they'll deliver it to your door;)

Congrats BCG! LOL - I remember the first time Cobalt took me to a "toy" store. I was sooooooo embarassed! I instantly went into "analytical mode" and critiqued the toys LOL!!! After I thought to myself - well, I do have the right to be here, and really this isn't too bad, I relaxed and we had a lot of fun.

I had a great time last night trying stuff out! It was fun reaching multiple orgasms over and over last night! The dvd wasn't as juicy as I was hoping for, but pretty good for buying my first porn flick.
