We're at $1.28 here. I don't idle the car much any more. :(

Oops ... $2.28. Sorry ... just noticed that. I wish it were $ 1.28. IAKG (below) was right. :D

I'm thinking DB may have had finger dyslexia or something this morning--or I'm moving to where he lives. :)

Can I interest you in a UK gallon of gas?

£3.58 per gallon or 83p per liter. This translates to (£1=$1.87) to $6.69 per gallon.

So whats you all complaining about?

IAKaraokeGirl 04-07-2005 11:39 AM

Yikes! That's awful!

Kleclere drives 1 hour, 20 minutes to and from work each day--about 60 miles one way. It *does* begin to hurt.

Plus when you add in all the insurances and taxes over here, it get more and more expensive.

I prefer to live a little dangerously, I cycle everywhere in this city. And if I can't, I take a bus... I've never learnt how to drive, and don't intend to start. I've never caught the bug.

It hit $2.24 a gallon for the cheap stuff here.

Years ago,I quit one job & went to another job, nearer to me,for just that
reason.I took an almost $1 an Hr.cut in pay but soon got it back.On the original job,I was Foreman & head-mechanic.On the new job,I was just a
mechanic But I cut out a Toll each way & soon became head mechanic of the
new place. In NH,commuting in the winter sucks. You just have to have
confidence in your abilities. As far as the price of gas goes, you have to buy
it anyway.Like anything else, complaining about it,makes no difference so just
go wih the flow & keep your vechicles tuned right. Irish

Proud to say the city I live in has the most expensive in the state.......average cheap stuff is $2.45.

Sharni 04-07-2005 01:32 PM

Some parts of Oz are up to AU$1.20 per litre

Here in my town

Unleaded is AU$0.99c (soon to go up again i feel)
Diesel is AU$1.12c per litre
Autogas is AU$.049c per litre

We get is a bit cheaper than the rest of the country because we pay a fuel levy in our vehicle registration
The fuel prices are a killer....i drive 75km per day for work alone...cost me approx AU$35-40 per week to run my car (think its time to seriously look at getting the motorbike back on the road!)

When i first moved to Qld, fuel was sitting around the AU$0.55c per litre

I know up in Canada liters are going for around a buck.......they're really getting hosed.

But if we did'nt complain about we would'nt be human.

IAKaraokeGirl 04-07-2005 01:59 PM

Public transportation is almost an unknown word in Iowa, and, Irish, so are jobs in certain sectors. Believe me, kleclere and I have searched for MONTHS (Cheyanne, jump in here anytime :D ) for something closer, even at a lower wage. Fortunately, he drives a pretty fuel-efficient car, but it's painful, no matter who you are or how far you have to drive to make a living.

Unfortunately, gas prices are one of those things over which we, the consumers, have limited control beyond carpooling, unnecessary trips, or "frivolous" driving. :(

$2.38 for a gallon of regular in MS and thats the low side, depending on where you go it gets up into the $2.50+ range. Hubby was saying he heard it would be over $4.00 a gallon by the end of the summer.

Now I know how my parents feel when they say "when I was a kid you could go to the theatre on a quarter." When I was a kid you could fill up your car with a 10 dollar bill.

When I was a kid,you could do it for a 5 dollar bill & get change! Irish

Regular was $2.20 here! Geez, I almost went into cardiac arrest when I had to pay for that!

Which by the way, my car gets HORRIBLE mileage. I fill up two times a week if not more. It could be a lot worse though. My mom's new car gets something like 16mpg highway :faint:

I might add, I can go across the state line into Georgia and instantly get cheaper gas :rolleyes2
