I don't pay a whole lot of attention to diesel generally, but I'm always looking for something to read while filling up to distract me myself from the depressing way the dollars roll upward during fillup...& in that reading, there seems to be some new higher quality standards for diesel (emission standards) that weren't in play a year or two ago...that would tend to drive the cost up a bit. The "creeping up" you noticed back when everybody went diesel would have been explained by ole reliable "supply & demand", which quickly began to look like "bait & switch"...

Saw a Benz in the bank drive-thru the other day with a bumper sticker, "BioDiesel: No War Required."

Don't know what gas will jump to (now $3.29) since oil hit $110.00 a barrel, but diesel jumped from $4.19 to $4.45 in one price increase. I hope that isn't a sign of what I see on Monday morning when I WALK past the gas station!

It seems like a good step towards feudalism. :rolleyes2

I had occasion to drive down the Eastern Seaboard from Baltimore to Charleston on Thursday, and gas prices ranged from a per gallon high of $1.36 to a low of $1.09. I took advantage of the sale at Pilot to fill up.

Interestingly, the low prices I saw were commonly in the towns, and the higher ones between them.

When I was young diesel prices were lower than gasoline. I wonder what changed that.

Do you really mean prices in the $1 range? That's a typo, right?!?!?!?!

jseal 03-15-2008 02:40 PM

A BIG time typo!

I can only wish they were "$1.36 to a low of $1.09"!

Returning on Sunday, prices seem to have gone up a couple of cents to $3.11 to $3.38.

sodaklostsoul 03-17-2008 07:05 AM

Sat. I think it was I paid $3.36.

dicksbro 03-17-2008 11:34 AM

$3.28 is the lowest I saw today when I went to Peoria.

dicksbro 03-28-2008 10:36 AM

$3.39 seems to be representative of what local stations are charging. Up from $3.16 earlier this week. :(

Be nice to get that stimulus check ... it should let me get to the gas station to fill up. :(

sodaklostsoul 03-28-2008 10:38 AM

When I don't need to fill I see $3.16..................I always end up paying $3.34.

IowaMan 04-03-2008 02:46 PM

I topped off my tank yesterday for $3.07 and today it is $3.19.

sodaklostsoul 04-03-2008 05:01 PM

I got to pay $3.18 2 days ago instead of $3.36. :)

dicksbro 04-05-2008 04:09 AM

$3.38 and $3.39 seem to be the going rates for now. Maybe Monday it'll start to drop again. :wish:

txgrneyes 04-05-2008 04:50 AM

$3.19 is what I paid today. (well last night)...I can still recall when a $20.00 could get me a full tank and a meal on a Saturday night.

Sigh...Oh the good ole days....where have ya gone.
