Looks like we got about 2 inches of new snow overnight but it is a bit warmer than it has been lately. Right now it's 16F and is supposed to get up to about 20F. They are still promising upper 30's within the next few days though. :wish:

25F with light snow. Off and on snow showers until sometime around noon.

24F right now with a brisk breeze but it's supposed to reach the low to mid-40's today. :nana:

From the National Weather Service for our area..... :( Watch out IowaMan! It is headed your way too!
Winter storm watch now in effect from Friday evening through sunday morning, The winter storm watch is now in effect from Friday evening through Sunday morning. The NWS in des moines has issued a winter storm watch, which is in effect from Friday evening through sunday morning. A major winter storm system over southern california will move out of the rockies and across the plains Saturday then turn northeast toward iowa Saturday night. A mixed bag of weather is expected with the storm. There will be a chance for a mixture of freezing rain and sleet late Friday afternoon and especially Friday night into Saturday. At this time it appears likely that much of the area will see one quarter to one half inch of ice accretion by saturday afternoon. The freezing rain will taper off during the afternoon Saturday. Then, colder air will move into the state Saturday night into Sunday with the next round of precipitation expected to fall as snow during that period. Six to twelve inches of new snow is possible over the watch area by Sunday afternoon. This will fall atop the ice from the first round from Friday night. Additionally, strong wind is expected Sunday which will cause blowing and drifting snow and may create hazardous conditions if the ice remains on trees and power lines. The watch has been extended through Sunday morning due to the expected slower movement of the storm. A winter storm watch means there is a potential for significant snow, sleet, or ice accumulations that may impact travel. Continue to monitor the latest forecasts. |
Blue sky for a change, but still bloody hot and humid.

I could've gone without reading that forecast. I can just about see all of the grass in my front yard again and most of it in back and now we've got another storm coming? :( Isn't it supposed to wait until the Girl's State Basketball Tourney starts? I thought that was our rule. |
Well, Cheyanne was right. The storm is here as I type. I swear I just saw some sort of apocalyptic voodoo monkey flying around outside throwing handfulls of ice pellets at my little town. :(
It's been going for only about 15-20 minutes and the front steps are already a sheet of ice. Got a feeling this isn't going to be much fun, supposedly it's going to be more ice than anything here where I'm located. How's the weather out there in San Fran. osuche? :p |

Apocalyptic Voodoo Monkeys here too.. rofl!!! Excellent description! We have had little ice pellets (looks like those little balls from bean bags), hail, lighting strikes, thunder, wind, sleet and ice so far. The forcast above looks to stay... 7-13 inches of snow before we are done. We stopped at the grocery store (like everyone else in town) picked up some snacks, beer and stuff that doesn't have to be cooked just in case the power goes out to get us through the weekend. We have a fireplace, so smores may be on the menu too.. :D |
Yep, looks like they changed their minds for us and decided we're in for 6 to 12 inches of snow by Monday too. :(
The winds right now are absolutely awful. They are saying 40 - 55 mph gusts for much of the weekend and I'm thinking that's right about where we're at now. You'd think the news of lots of inches and big ol' blow job would make us all feel a bit better wouldn't you? |
29F under mostly cloudy skies. Looks like it'll be windy with rain and possibly thunderstorms for later in the day. Oh yeah, there's also a flood watch from areas near the Illinois river or along some of the creeks.
|
Yes there is a flood watch for us as they say we could get 2-3 inches of rain on top of the melting snow from last week and the ground is still frozen, any have a boat handy. Thank goodness the temp is 36f, so no snow or ice.
|
It's about 28F here right now. I can't really tell if it's actually snowing or if it is just blowing snow that we've got going on. The winds are just absolutely crazy though, have been since yesterday. They have changed their forecast back to what they had originally stated, that where I am at will miss the heaviest snow and just get the icy stuff. Probably only 3 to 6 inches of snow by the time it's all done sometime Monday.
