I agree with that ^^^^!
My favorite hasn't yet ... it's the Japanese words for Happy New Year ... "akemashite omedetô gozaimasu" |
Japanese is one language I don't understand at all.
Khoekhoe is such an obscure language to me, I had to look up which of the world's people speak it (spoken in Namibia, South Africa & Botswana, BTW.)
Latin is a more familiar although I can't really speak it.
Mandarin is a group of Chinese (Sinitic) dialects that are natively spoken across most of northern and southwestern China. I know of it but again, don't speak it.
Norwegian is a mighty good language ya know. Yep, for sure it is.
Only about 21-22% of Americans speak a non-English language at home (according to: https://preply.com/en/blog/bilingua...ry%205%20adults.)
People seem to generally learn to ordinarily speak the language most often heard in their neighborhood, state or nation.
Quite interesting, isn't it?
Relative to more everyday conversations, I'd have to agree with you, it is interesting.
So many things to talk about...
Tempting subjects all around.
Unfortunately, there have been few posts lately.
Very busy recently ...
But the school year is ending and my wife who works at a grade school in Before and After Care doesn't drive anymore (vision problems) so I'm her "Uber Driver." I take her in the morning; pick her up and then repeat the process in the afternoon. This is her 30th year and she may return next year. Some of the kids she had years ago now married and have children who she cares for. She does have 4 helpers I lady and 3 high school girls in the afternoon. Plus yard work, two grown kids living at home, church and staying in contact with friends and relations. |
When that kind of stuff happens, it's still a fulfilling life.
