It amazes me to watch the evolotin of words in America. This term first appeared in a New York Times column (if I am correct) and the lexicon spread from there, and it is not like most American words deemd cool (that is created by urban and african americans, used by everyone else, and then exploited by the media, and thus played out) no metrosexual to on a growth pattern all to its own. Mainly becuase gay is just so in.

So what are we going to call a guy into style with a neat bedroom and knows all the hip joints. Well we can't call em gay, that's the point of metrosexual. Oh yeah its obsessive compulsive. Damn someone thought of that first too.

I had one friend explain it to me that "fuck you" meant go fuck yourself.

Of course, I have gotten so tired of telling one friend in college fuck you in college that I started naming positions and or various kink.

I suffer from having first had loving, educated parents, (my Papa' was a Lit Professor. Mama' was one of his students), and now live with two writers, so I am I constantly aware of the silliness of new words.
Metro= mother
Polis= city
Metropolis= " Mother City" the biggest, or most important, the capitol.
Sexual, = about sex or reproduction.
So metro-sexual=
Oh dear.

I jsut had to look up the etymology of metropolis just to see if you were right. It turns out that the prefix metro- did mean mother in the Greek.

I guess it is funny how we English speakers (or is it us English speakers) have bastardized words so far from their original meaning.
