Aging yourself, Tex. The new south may not think differently but it sure is acting differently. Check out Atlanta, Raleigh, Tampa, among others.

Is from the south and proudly "not fittin" into the worn haggard stereo- typical roles that have dominated in this area!!!! Raising my children to see into the hearts and souls of people, not passing down racism like a family heirloom.
*passes up on the soap box as this issue is to touchy for me* |
well i have had interracial sex many times
actually my last gf was the only woman of my own race i have ever had sex with. and it is no different it is the person that makes the differencs i cant really compare as i all my gf were black or black and white mixed. and i did have a one night stand with a white woman once but i cant use that as a yard stick as she was 48 and i was 27. her son is my same age and her daughter 10 years younger than me ( we became friends after that night). sex with her was not very good. |
I'll take that soap box! Its hard to get out of old thinking. I am fairly liberal but he culture is sooo different here from Raleigh(my last residence). You can't imagine the difference unless you live it. I'm glad for making the change despite my love of Carolina.( I still love you Tar Heels)

The thread certainly wasn't meant to be racial - it was mearly a question as to whether anyone had had sex with someone from another race and did they enjoy it? I'm with Casper - I like looking at black women and find them really sexy, their skin is beautiful and their smiles melt my heart.

I am from Savannah Georgia where racism runs high but I'll be damned if I won't be with who I want. I am a half breed (Jew Rican) and I look white. I have been through hell because Iggy is Mexican and my skin tone is white. In high school I got shunned because I dated a boy of my own race but he was dark and I am not. I am proud to be a southerner and I am also proud that I am "colorblind." Be you purple, orange , blue or green if you treat me right I'll date ya. If people in Texas are going to treat me like I was treated in Georgia I don't think I want to live there. Not mad at ya txgrneyes but your post brought out a ton of bad memories like my house being vandalized because I didn't stick to my own kind. |

I very much admire the courage of a person who can go beyond TRADITION or TREND and state the truth that is theirs.:) I also respect the ability to separate heart from brain, but even more respect the ability to combine them again with the understanding of what each has given us.;) |
WhiteNoise, I understand your question was just a straightforward one and asked in innocence. I don't know what the racial situation is in Australia, but hopefully it is better than it is the States...at least in parts of the States. As you can see, it is still very much a hot issue here.
My father tried to kill my future husband (black) and me (white) when we said we were getting married; obviously he didn't succeed, but he did manage to disown me and forbid all of my relatives to see me, including my mother and siblings, for 14 years. We were attacked by fellow students and strangers when we were in graduate school, we were denied housing, and a couple of people tried to get us fired from our jobs. And this was in Southern Illinois and St. Louis. To be honest...and no offense to the South...but it has made me afraid to travel any further South than that. Now, all that was many years ago, and we have found wonderful places to live in various parts of the Midwest where being an interracial couple or family has not mattered at all. Yet...I think we in many parts of the States still have a long way to go. Until that time, interracial dating, sex, marriage, etc. will be touchy subjects. |
It is a hot potato everywhere in the world and I'm a little disappointed that it got turned into something it was never meant to be.
I think it is sad that some people went straight there without any direction from the original thread. Sorry if it offended anyone, it wasn't meant to. |
I don't think people are offended, merely having a discussion, and it is an excellent topic! People are expressing how when you set race as the main criteria for anything it becomes an issue for some. Here in America some/many people who have sex with/ marry/ date people from another race often have lots of societal/family issues to deal with. Would you have preferred a simple yes or no answer from people? It seemed only natural when discussing it to include how you were effected by making the choice to do so, and/or what led to making that choice.

Well, I ain't going to argue with the T-X. *LOL*

btw I think txgrneyes shows how hard it can be to struggle between what you have been taught and the realization that it may not be completely accurate! I applaud her effort and her courage in looking at things in a different light.

and the strenght to bring it forward. (long journey, single step and all that) |
Well thank you Lilith and Pantyfanatic...I got nervous when I started reading the replies to my post.
Basically it is simple...and I am raising my children with this also, "What you do in your own home is none of my business and that goes the same for what you or who you do in the bedroom. But when it is brought in front of me and I don't approve I have a choice to say something or not. Most the time I choose not to say anything unless asked. Which to sum it up easily...If you dont want someone telling you how to live then dont tell them how they should live." It is that plain and simple. And as far as raising my children to beleive the "tradition"....I just want my kids to grow up and live a happy life. If they choose to live with someone of the same sex or of another race then I will discuss this with them and listen to them. I will not judge them since it is not my place to do so. IF they ARE truely happy then I will respect their choice. I am sorry if this offends anyone. My kids happiness means more to me than anything else. And that is what I strive for. |
I haven't yet. I'm not seeking it out as it has never been a fetish or goal of mine to specifically sleep with someone of a certain race. I am just looking for love where ever I may find it. Life's too short and love is too hard to find to limit myself.
