3) I'm still sad there's no snow. :(

Lord Snow 12-26-2009 08:01 PM

I had to work today.

Didn't want to crawl out of my nice warm water bed.

Work was busy, but fairly steady for a change.

jbh3 12-26-2009 08:37 PM

1. I feel 500 pounds lighter now that it's all over.

2. Disappointed......missed Midnight Mass again.

3. Really need a release right now.

Irezumi Kiss 12-27-2009 01:31 AM

Eating cold udon noodles with tuna/crab/olives "sauce" on top (homemade)

dicksbro 12-27-2009 08:10 AM

1. Limping along today. Fell yesterday on the ice at the bottom of our drive. Landed on and broke my cell phone and also fell on a set of keys. :(
2. We're suppose to go to another holiday open house tonight, but won't. The fall saw to that. :(
3. Going to spend today just relaxing and off my feet as much as possible.

Doing fine, IWM. Thanks. Actually I walked with a cane yesterday and the day before, but today I was moving around without one. I'm still moving slow, but it's progress.

1. Had lunch with friends at Logan's Steakhouse today.
2. Went to see the movie Avatar this afternoon.
3. Just relaxing now. :)

Irezumi Kiss 12-29-2009 07:33 PM

Didn't do shiat today except read in bed

Drinking orange juice

Will attempt being productive by going late grocery shopping and doing laundry in a few hours

PantyFanatic 01-02-2010 04:41 AM

Did a lot of cleaning today to at least start the year right.

Will continue sorting backed up and recovered data. :wobbly:

Would like to be doing it on my own computer. :banghead:

dicksbro 01-02-2010 05:29 AM

1. Woke up at 2:30 as I usually do, but decided to wake "a couple of minutes" before I got up. Now, it's getting near 4:30. I guess my couple of minutes are up. :)
2. I think we're going to work a puzzle today. Love those things. Might just do a five hundred piece (we have four we haven't worked) so we can get done this weekend. We've got seven 1000 piece ones, but maybe will save them for a while more. :)
3. Probably should get some gasoline for my Oldsmobile today. It's so cold, I like to keep the gauge near full. :boink:

Lord Snow 01-02-2010 01:09 PM

I went to gym for the second day in a row yesterday.

Last night I had a very healthy dinner of of chicken gyros without any cucumber dressing and a granny smith apple for dessert.

Because of the gym my arms hurts quite a bit this morning.

Lilith 01-02-2010 02:46 PM

I went to the grocery store and they had $1 a pound spiral hams and .60 a pound turkey breasts. My freezer is soooo packed.

I made crab chowder for the first time.

Today's panini was roast beef with garlic aioli, horseradish, and cheddar on a french bagette turned inside out.

Lord Snow 01-02-2010 03:37 PM

Except for the horseradish, that panini sounds really good.

We should tell those people that live in the boring non-seasonly places, why we keep the gas (petro) tanks topped off in the sub temps. ;)

Lilith 01-02-2010 10:58 PM

Hot wings

Carrot Sticks

Blue Cheese

Neige 01-06-2010 09:05 AM

Today Wilderness and I have been together for a year and a half.

I'm really down these days. I hate this new apartment. I miss home so fucking bad.

The only time I am happy these days is when I'm at work.

dicksbro 01-06-2010 10:48 AM

1. Going to run (okay, drive) to Wally World in just bit.
2. Need to have the air checked in my car's tires. :(
3. Want to find something good to eat ... maybe some egg drop soup from a local Chinese restaurant. :)

Coaster 01-09-2010 07:21 PM

Been really lazy today

Put sand down in the driveway

Setting up Quickbooks

Neige 01-09-2010 08:59 PM

I've been feeling soooooooo much better since I last posted in this thread.

We started the swimming lesson registration today - wow busy!

I need to get out with my car to learn to drive it!!! But it keeps snowing!!!!!!!!

If DB doesn't want to let you season deprived folks in on all the fun stuff, I guess I'll have to …………… but only if you promise not to be jealous of the fun things we get to do and the more fun when we don't do them.

It is just an issue of moisture condensing in air with extreme temperature drops. When the volume of fuel in a tank is low it allows for a larger volume of air containing water vapor. With an extreme drop of temperature this vapor can condense back into liquid water, which has a higher density than the gasoline and of course goes to the bottom of the tank where the fuel line is connected. Water going into our internal combustion engines, particularly through the older carburetor systems, doesn't work. Even worse is when that water wasn't moving and allowed to freeze into a solid in the fuel line between the tank and the fuel pump that use to pull it to the engine. "Fuel line freeze up" meant a tow and after being inside, it was costly to flush out all the now again liquid water. A common practice is/was to use a combustible additive, "dry gas" (carbon tetrachloride with a trade name), with each fill-up that would absorb the water and pass through the engine. Of course keeping the tank full of petro and allowing minimum air with water vapor into the tank reduces the problem when cold temps are expected.

Next time we'll tell you how to install tire chains (which any good Canadian girl :hockey: can do) or when to plug your car into the electric heater so the oil doesn't get so think it won't turn over. ;)

:roflmao:

Oldfart 01-10-2010 06:38 PM

Water in the fuel?

Tip 1. Don't let the tank get under 1/2.

Tip 2. A cup of methylated spirits every 3 tanks. Water dissolves in metho and passes harmlessly through the system.

It works in the tropics.

Rhiannon 01-10-2010 06:43 PM

1. Cleaned bedroom top to bottom

2. getting new bed delivered on wednesday

3. waiting for chinese food to come

I used to install "tank heaters" to keep the whole engine block thinking it was springtime. They attached at the base of the radiator with a hose circling back up and into the engine. You'd plug it in, it'd heat the water which would naturally rise up and go into the engine. Then, when you started the car (which was easy since it was already warmed up), you could immediately turn on the heater. :) Wonderful device. Made me the envy of neighbors around here that never had heard of them before. :) :boink:

AZRedHot 01-11-2010 10:31 PM

It's the hubby's 40th birthday today.

When I met him, he was just a lad of 20. Where has the time gone?

Wasn't a bad day, as Mondays go.

Irezumi Kiss 01-12-2010 10:47 PM

Had mac & cheese with sausage n' mushroom n' extra ricotta plus spinach today...very satisfying.

Thought I'd go food shopping afterwards but it's col' outside and I got comfortable, so fuck that noise!

Only one bottle of red for the whole night. I'm feeling good-crazy enough for two. :spank:

Neige 01-19-2010 09:40 AM

Yesterday was the first day that my job was actually a job. I hope that it's better today.

I've never worked anywhere that initiative wasn't encouraged, and even rewarded. I know this town is backwards, but this is ridiculous. I am meant to be supervisor, but my boss has taken all my tasks that make me anything but a glorified lifeguard.

My sister was supposed to come up yesterday to stay the night, but there was a huge snowstorm at home and she wasn't able to come. :(

Rhiannon 01-19-2010 10:01 AM

1. kids school started back after MLK holiday
2. got to sleep late as hubby took care of her
3. bad news is i am sick as a dog

Pita 01-19-2010 05:30 PM

1. My brand new 18 year old daughter passed her driver's test and is out and about with her best friend right this minute. Without supervision! :car:

2. Same daughter has a job interview tomorrow. :wish:

3. I'm feeling a little overwhelmed by all these changes. :faint:

Neige 01-24-2010 11:58 AM

Wilderness had a job interview Friday, and I really really really hope he gets it. It would be awesome if we could both start putting aside money to buy land.

I'm eating leftovers of an incredible minestrone soup I made the other night.

I'm making baked beans and this ham for supper. :D

dicksbro 01-25-2010 09:07 AM

^^^^ that ham looks delicious. :)

Lord Snow 01-25-2010 01:52 PM

I'd rather what cooked that ham.

Lilith 01-25-2010 05:11 PM

I am 1/5 of the way done with this week :)

I get to take my kid to go play games for free tonight.

I had a very productive Relay 4 Life meeting today.

AZRedHot 01-25-2010 10:20 PM

I decided today that what my life is missing is volunteering, giving back to the world. I'm going to fix that.

Went for a walk tonight, and didn't feel any more crippled than usual after. There's hope for me yet!

The sun shone all day today; first time in a week!

Neige 01-25-2010 10:40 PM

I drove around in my gorgeous car today and didn't do too bad!!! The worst part was a bit of confusion between 1st and 3rd... (oops, hehe)

I found a dentist! A whole lot of my lifeguards go to him and say he's good. Hopefully my cavity won't get horribly worst between now and my appointment in a couple of weeks.

I'm really really really hoping Wilderness will get a call tomorrow saying he got the job!!!

Aqua 01-29-2010 04:20 PM

I just shipped off the latest thing to cause me stress. (I usually don't get stressed at work (or otherwise). Yesterday sucked.)

I'm really hoping my daughter does well in her semester finals today.

With any luck I'll have a chance to watch a movie with my wife tonight.

jay-t 01-29-2010 06:28 PM

They cancelled work because of the ice storm :line:
