Where's the party??

dm383 03-30-2014 01:56 PM

Thanks again everyone for your kind words & thoughts.

It's just about 5 years since I first noticed the lump on my neck, which at the time I didn't really pay a great deal of attention to. I got very, very lucky to have it caught so early, and to be treated so wonderfully well & quickly by our National Health Service.

As for the party ….. that's every day, isn't it? ;)

Now that the lump in your throat is gone, who is going to be the lucky woman to raise welts on your behind?

YES !! You are correct. I hadn't really thought of that. Celebrate every day, make every day count, everyday given to us is a gift !

Yesterday is history,
Tomorrow is a mystery.
Today is a gift,
That's why its called the present !

Five years ago today was the very last of my radiotherapy treatments, bringing to an end a 5 month episode of finding a lump in my neck, to blood tests, needles, more needles, CAT scans etc etc etc, culminating in 3 lots of week-long chemo and 34 sessions of IMRT; a then-new form of radiotherapy. (Incidentally, I was the 16th person to receive this as a form of neck cancer treatment in Scotland - of the 15 before me, over half have died, which is rather sobering).

Many people in my life contributed to helping me through some of the darkest days in my life, not the least of whom were the people who frequent this place, none of whom I have ever met and, probably, who I never will. (Though "never say never", as my motto remains after these many years!) The posts of support, good wishes (and the occasional piss-take!) and all round niceness, sums up all that is good about this place, and all those who frequent it.

Thanks for being there; you'll be seeing me here for many more years yet.

Wow! It's been 5 years?? Doesn't feel that long ago.

Hope you stay healthy, well, strong and sexy so that we will be seeing you here for a long, lonnnnggg time.
