A thought for our California Members
I do not get to watch the news very much and have just finished seeing the devastation that has occurred the the great state of California due to the raging bush fires.
My thoughts go out to our members in California, and I hope this will find you all well and safe. |
My thoughts also go out to all who are involved in this tragic event
|
My thoughts are with you as well! Take care!
|
For sure the prayers are with them. They just showed on the news a number of homes burning near San Diego. It's a terrible tragedy.
|
The Canadian fires, our Canberra fire, This firestorm in Ca,
anyone think we may have pissed someone off? In my thoughts, the firefighters and the homeowners. |
I just heard the fire is spreading. This is devastating. My prayers are with all affected.
|
I have to say that I was not aware of the 13 deaths from the fires when I answered another thread about this yesterday. Now I understand it's 15.:( If there’s a way to make such a tragedy worse, …..that’s it.
|
Add my thoughts and prayers to all in California affected by this tragic fire, especially the brave people that are fighting the blaze.
|
Such loss, and risk to so many more, is a tragedy. Thoughts and prayers go out to everyone there, and anyone who know's someone who is.

When there's no fires,floods,mudslides,hurricanes,earthquakes,
etc.,it's a nice place to live.I heard that most of the deaths were caused by people, that were told to evacuate,& waited until it was too late.I feel sorry for them!Imagine your lifes possessions, going up in smoke! One of the possible causes mentioned was "terrorism"!I know that,at least, one, was caused by a lost hunters, signal fire! Yes, even a living about 60 miles north of San Diego, the air is thick with ash ... of course there are a couple of the fires that are closer than the San Diego ones to me .... I heard on the news yesterday that because of how long it takes to disperse the ash from the air, there will be air quality alerts until after Thanksgiving .... I've never seen the smoke and ask so dense here. It's an interesting event .... I know that Scorp said he was evacuated from his place the other day. Hope all our members are well!

Thank all of you good people. It came close, but we are safe for now.Ashes cover everything and night and day the sirens are heard rushing by to save a live or someone's property.I've been through many of these late October fires ignighted by the Santa Ana winds as well as the terrible earth- quakes we are famous for.I appreciate all of your kind words.Thank you.

I live well away from any danger (near LAX), and work in the San Gabriel Valley, south of Pasadena, so I commute closer to the fires.
On Friday, the air was filled with smoke at work. The smoke didn't reach my home until Sunday about 11 AM when the Santa Ana winds blew it to the Southwest. Now the air throughout the basin is smoke + vehicle/industrial emissions + fog. A thick, beige soup. The winds that were 50-60 miles/hour from the desert in the northeast are now 30-40 miles/hour from the ocean in the west. This wind is slightly more moist, but basically it is just pushing the fire to new places, so it's not over. It's a disaster from any perspective, and we will have to pay for this for many years. The sad thing is, these people moved into these developments in the foothills, in known fire areas, without 30' perimeter firebreaks and with inadequate water. |
Just heard that more than 2,600 homes have been lost along with at least 20 lives.:( … and the wind just gets faster.
