CLEAN-CUT Hollywood actor Val Kilmer will soon be hitting the big screen again -- as a porn star.
Kilmer, 42, has signed on to play one of the United States' best known porn kings, legendary adult film actor John Holmes, in biopic that describes his involvement in a quadruple murder, trade dailies said today.
The true-crime tale, entitled Wonderland, is to be distributed by Lions Gate Films' Wonderland for director James Cox.
The picture is based on the killings of four people on Wonderland Avenue in Los Angeles to which the actor was connected.
"What always interested me in this project is the truth of the incident," Cox told Daily Variety.
Holmes was arguably the most famous porn star of the 1970s, making more than 2,000 hard-core movies and reputedly sleeping with more than 10,000 women.
Holmes, a drug addict, died from AIDS-related complications in 1988 at the age of 43.
Actors Christina Applegate, Kate Bosworth, Friends star Lisa Kudrow and Josh Lucas are all reportedly in talks to take roles in the film that will begin shooting next month.
