Hmm well a few things, first off Steven King used to live within a 20 min drive from my house, which happens to be that same town that parts of the Jumanji movie was filmed in. Steven King also went the the university that I am going to now.
The most recent big thing was about a year ago a huge lottery jack pot paid out from a store that is within walking distance from my house. It was funny driving home from work that day as I began to crest the hill I see a ton of TV satilite vans, I drive by kinda slow like, and see news people. When I got home I turned on CNN, and sure enough they were reporting from the gas station, that I had drivin by not 4 minutes before :D

My town used to be very civic-minded.
On election day, you were expected to vote early and often.

ROTFLMAO. Indulgence ... just gotta be Chicago ... where even departing this world isn't reason to quit voting. :D :D
Well, there's a couple very recognizable landmarks here... The Space Needle and Mt. Rainier, and Microsoft Headquarters is not too far from my house either. (About 25 Miles)

Melbourne's famous for the Olympics in 1956.
That's probably about it as far as I know.
Correct me if there're other things we're famous for, Melbournians!!

Well. my town is mostly known as the home of the Grand Ole Opry :P...but less known is that it's the center of the world of religious publishing, and printing in general...

well, Trinidad prides itself on being the home of Carnival. And we've exported sports personalities such as Brian Lara (cricket), Stephen Ames (golf), Dwight Yorke (english league football) and so on.
oh, and a couple of Miss Universes here and there!
