Is your glass half empty or is it half full?

We had a talk at work yesterday about this old proverb...I don't think like a lot of people when it comes to these things. My answer to that age-old question is simple....

Fill the damn thing up and move on ;)

So what I'm getting at is should it be better to be a dreamer or a realist...and why????

From an engineering standpoint, the container is twice a lager as is required.

there's no better choice, because you shouldn't hafta choose. there's a gray area that i believe most people would find quite nice if they gave it a day in court. feet on the ground, with yer head high in the clouds.

Yes it is better to be a dreamer or a realist because if you're not one or the other, you're probably getting close to being nowhere. :D :D

Truth is probably depends on the day or circumstance. There are times to dream and imagine what could be ... and other times when you simply have to do what's necessary. :o

 Sure sounds serious, doesn't it?

Time for the waitress to come around for a refill, unless it's coffee...I hate when I've just got the color right, & they ruin it...

That's one of the;questions;that they ask you in AA.1/2 full and
you're an optomist.1/2 empty and you're a pessimist.It's about time that;as in the service;they realise;that everyone is NOT the
same;and individuals look at things differently.I;personally;think
that;the glass is;twice as big as it has to be.If you're building;a
custom motorcycle.That's wasted space! Irish

The actual question to which this proverb refers is, "Are you an optimist or pessimist?"

I am pessimistically optimistic!

Now, I know you will fill my glass? I just know you don't want to!

The question should be ....."which bastard drank half my beer while I was in the bathroom ??" :D

The glass is halfway on its way to being full again.

LixyChick, fill your glass anytime.

FussyPucker, it was him over there. (Burp).

FussyPucker---The last time that;I got a draft beer;instead of bottled,was in a biker bar;in which I was a regular!Everyone knew
me.I drank;1/2 of the glass;and went to the mens room.I came out;finished my beer;and went home.It's a good thing;that I was
going right home.I was woozy;when I got there.It's a good thing;
because I was on my motorcycle!Just a word of warning to everyone.Someone;had dropped;something into my beer;as a joke.I could have been killed or killed someone else. What some
people think;is funny;can have dire consequences! Irish

well from a logical point of view the glass is at half capacity.

WildIrish

At the moment...empty.

The other night...half full.

Oh wait...you said "glass". never mind

I try to always keep my glass half full with hope for an overflow. :wine:

Strictly the speaking the glass is always full. Just not of liquid. Air fills the rest of the container.

Mine has room from more olives.

Oldfart

I don't know who persuaded the world to put olives into alcohol, but I want him/her to manage my bid for world dictator. I might have a chance with them at the helm.

Hey, a counter-question: are you trying to empty it, or trying to fill it?

Oldfart
11-07-2012, 05:44 PM
Yes.

My glass is both half empty and half full. I don't believe in perceiving the world as either/or, but rather as it is, wholly.

Lord Snow

Only reason to fill your glass is to empty it again. This philosophy works quite well with alcohol.
