All this talk about music got my thoughts to wandering (thats not hard :D ) What was the first concert you ever attended?
Mine wasn't until I was 16 my Mom being an avid concert goer knew what went on :p so I wasn't allowed to go but of course where there's a teen with a will there's a way so I went on my 16 bday to see Alice Cooper, Judas Priest (Rob Halifax even rode his bike onto stage) MoterHead, Danger Danger and Dangerous Toys

First concert, get this...Lee Michaels, JoJo Gunne, & Osabissa...all together now, say, "Who?!?"the 2 opening acts rocked pretty good, Mr. one-hit-wonder Lee Michaels committed career suicide by refusing to play his one & only hit...looking back, I'm surprised that didn't turn me off to attending another concert...

I've only been to 3 concerts.........#1. The Beatles (ticket cost $3.00), Rolling Stones on their very first U.S. tour in '64, and The Beatles again in '66. Top ticket price for that concert was $5.50 for floor seats, which I gladly paid. That's why I'm reluctant to pay today's prices for a concert....I figure if I could see "the BEST" for the price I paid, why should I pay what they're asking these days to anyone else? :D:D
The first was a weekend of shows.
1969, Led Zepplin and Jethro Tull.
Thur, Fri, Sat and Monday nights.
Since then I have seen Tull 20 plus times.
The last time was 2000 in ABQ NM..

I don't remember who performed at my first concert.I'm from
Branford,Connecticut.It is within;a few miles;of New Haven.Almost
every weekend;there was a concert;at the Yale Bowl.Usually;5 mins;after getting there;you were stoned;so badly(?);that you didn't remember your name!The joints;went;up&down;the aisles.
I;probably;missed;alot;of good music;but;when you're a teenager;who cares? Irish
P.S.My; deceased ;uncle(fathers brother)was the sports editor;for
the New Haven Register.I had free tickets;from him;almost;every
weekend.

The probably very first one was of the Allotria Jazz Band, a blue grass band. The first well known one was of the Rolling Stones.

I;probably;went to my first concert;before most of you were born!
I graduated from High School at 17yrs old.I;enlisted;the same year.My folks had to sign for me to enlist;because you have to be
18 to sign for yourself. The concerts;were before that and that was 1961! Irish

well heres one to top you LOL
Liberace in Melbourne a very long time ago He was very good and a wonderful pianist and entertainer. The next one I went to was Slade that was totally different. Coming from Tasmania with a small population and being sperated from the Australian Mainland by sea, we had very very few international acts coming to the state. That is the case even now :(

I am not exactly sure which one was first.. I went to many in my early teens... could have been the Rightous Brothers... or Kenny Rogers... after that sometime was REO Speedwagon... and then there was Journey (My personal all time favorite group, even have a symbolic tatoo related to them).
Last night I was fortunate enough to attend the Sawyer Brown concert!!!! :) And tomorrow night I will be seeing Trace Adkins... needless to say I will be saving money this week by not needing to buy batteries :) LOL

My first and last concert, was a Jessica Simpson concert last August. I will probably never go to another concert in my life again if I can help it. Then again I won't even buy music from the store, just a big wast of money I think.

too!
Grumble---Shows the difference in tastes.I wouldn't have gone to
see Liberache(sp)if they paid me to go.My father;played the piano
;by ear.We had a player piano;when I was a kid.He must have had a sore head;if he played by ear! Irish

Suprized you didn't hear about it Irish, it was all over the radio. Anyway She is a pop singer, and is fairly popular, hence the word "Pop".
here is a link to give you an idea of who she is, http://www.jessicasimpson.com/bio.html Oh yeah there were most singers there besides her but I can't rember them all.

OK.....This is pretty embarrassing but I also need to know something from everyone so I will tell........
I was 12, it was 1970.....I won tickets from a local radio show and the concert was at The Spectrum in Philly. Headliner.........The Guess Who (pretty good so far, right?) Also playing.....Jose Feliziano (spell check....and omg, I had never heard of him till then!) Warm up group.......an all girl group (all girl groups were very few and far between at the time) called Fanny, or maybe it was spelled Fanni though I am not sure (they really weren't all that bad from what I remember).
My question? Has ANYONE ever heard of that all girl group? I've asked people I meet and to date I have had only one yes. Just curious if it was a dream or what? LOL!

Mrs. Lix - I knew there would come a time when the closeness of our ages would pay out - sounds like a concert I would have loved (except maybe Feliciano, never cared much for him) but I most difinately remember Fanny...gawd, I had the hots for them! They had two almost hits, "Charity Ball" & a remake of Marvin Gaye's "Ain't That Peculiar"...& I have a faint memory that one of them might have been the sister of Suzi Quatro, mentioned on one of the other threads...but don't quote me on that...one question about the Guess Who, do you remember if there were 4 or 5 members in the group when you saw them? Just wondering if you saw them before Randy Bachman left the group to found BTO...
I haven't been to that many either, but my very first was John Denver when I was about 5 or 6. My all time favorite is Aerosmith tho, seen them 4 times.

scotz.........Wooooooohooooooooo! TY, TY, TY!!!! I ain't as crazy as they all say I am after all! (OK..shaddup! Nuther subject, I know!)
I was sitting alone at home about 5 months ago and I was watching VH1. They had a "Where Are They Now" thing on and I almost fainted. They were talking about Fanny and I couldn't believe it. I had almost forgotten about them.....(cept that I can't find the delete button in my brain so it was stored way back in the archives)..... I need you to do a verse or two from "Charity Ball" because as soon as I read that song title I started getting flashbacks of the concert. They opened the evening and they got a standing ovation. All the stuff in between is a blank cause as I stated I was only 12 and I was in awe and amazed at just what happens outside the little world of my neighborhood. I do believe that VH1 mentioned that one of the band members was related to someone more famous and it could have been Suzie Quatro but I am not sure......(This is why I need to delete some useless info. in my brain.....to make room to store more necessary stuff like this.......What do I need to remember the books of the old testament now for?.....LOL!)
As to The Guess Who...........I was right up front because as I said, I won tickets from a local radio station and they give out only the best tickets. If you have never seen the Spectrum in Philly, they have a baracade in front of the stage to prevent people from climbing up on it. It was a dance concert (outlawed now because of all the trampling deaths at concerts). Philly concert goers are fanatical! I saw Steven Tyler kick a guy square in the face to get him off his feedback amp once....but again, I digress. Yes......The Guess Who had 5 members in the band at the time. Maybe it was just before BTO. I never saw BTO but I did see Ten Years After and Mott the Hoople and David Bowie and Mick Ronson and Ian Hunter (together) and Aerosmith (10 times....Wooohoooo Eros!....We have that in common...Best concerts I have ever been to too!) and Black Sabbath (when Ozzy was originally with them) and Alice Cooper and Van Halen (David Lee Roth) and Jeff Beck and Frank Zappa (hated it) and Ozzfest 97 and oh.....I even got dragged to a Hall and Oates concert once (OMG, I must have ran out of drugs at that time!) and.......well....there are a lot more but back in those days it's lucky I can remember any of them, if you get my drift!
Anyway, so sorry this has run on and on but I could talk bout this stuff for hours! Oh........I already have...teehee! Lemme know scotz, if you remember any of the lyrics from "Charity Ball". Guess I could look um up on a site but this is much more fun and I don't get any pop-up ads here either........LOL! TY for airing the fact that you knew Fanny too.....I think most people that I have asked didn't want anyone to know how old they were or something???
*kisses*

YVW, Mrs. Lix...if Guess Who had 5 members, that means Randy had already left...he was replaced by 2 guitarists whose names seem to be in a lost brain cell...I got to see Bachman-Turner Overweight...oops, I mean Overdrive in June '72, just before they started hitting it big, along with Charlie Daniels Band at the same stage of his career...Foghat was the reason me & my buds were there, & the assholes didn't play...recently heard a local DJ who was at the station promoting the show at the time relate his memories of the backstage action, seems Foghat didn't care for the crowd, leaving BTO & CDB to debate over who would go on first, which led to Randy & Charlie scuffling, weighing in at 200-300 lbs. apeice, with scrawny lil Coyote McCloud (the DJ) getting between them to try to break it up...well, I think it's a funny image...
Another set of brain cells gone AWOL on the words to "Charity Ball," Hell it's been 30 years since I heard it, & I didn't know there would be a quiz ;) seem to recall the chorus going something like...
"Dance...ooo...groove...ooo...move...to...Charity Ball!"
and the only verse I remember went
"Get the musicians ready,
& get them good & hot,
Good & hot, oooo,
Dance to the music
& give it every thing you've got,
you've got my number..."
Now you've got me wanting to hear it again, guess I'll have to check out my fav download sites (shh, don't tell the recording industry)...

My very first concert that I attended was ....
...... don't laugh .....
Donny and Marie Osman!! :D
They opened for some lady with extremely long hair (to her feet/maybe Crystal Gayle?). I can't remember her but I do remember Donny. ;) I went to this show with my folks.
Now the first concert that I went to on my own free will was The Sisters of Mercy.

Testing, 1, 2...can ya hear me now?
Mrs Lix, the history on Fanny appears to be very thin, & the availability of their music even worse, but I found this link that confirms & clarifies some of our memories...
http://www.aurealm.com/fanny.htm
apparently, none of their music has been released on CD yet, except for a live album...and the download site I was going to(recommended to me by Lilith, if I remember correctly) appears to have been shut down by RIAA
