I dont know if anyone has heard of the fires in Colorado, well i live there and its getting bad. I can walk out my front door and see burned pine needles on my stoop.
79,000. THOUSAND acers burned as of the last update today. going to be OVER 100,000 by nightfall, with 0 zip nada zlech contained. There are currently 8 different fires bruning right now, with the biggest one being the Hayman fire. I live not to far from that fire and its burned 25,700 acers it self. SO EVERYONE PLEASE PRAY FOR RAIN AND FOR OUR FIREFIGHTERS LIVES HERE.

Dont want to bring anyone down but this hurts in ways that some people only know all to well. And others can only feel in their hearts.

Coal seam fire also burning is said that it was smoldering at least 90 years. Started 5 miles west of Glenwood springs, burning into town on both sides. Cause : believed to have started in a coal seam that surfaced on private property. NO enjuries so far.

Haymen fire started in Park County four miles northwest of lake George in pike national forest and spread into Jefferson County and to the area between Deckers and West Creek in Douglas County.. Cause: An illegal campfire is suspected. :( only 5 % contained one Injury...

Hayman fire burned 25,700 acers so far 5 % contained

Spring Fire burned 22,712 acers as of this morning 72 % contained started by lightning

Coal seam fire burned 7,500 acers as of this morning 0 % contained out look not so good

Long Canyon Fire burned 1,500 acers so far 0% contained cause lightning

Misionary Ridge fire burned 1,000 acers so far. 0 % contained as of sunday 6pm

So again please pray for rain! and for the people who might loose their homes, for people who have lost their homes, for the animals forced out of theirs. And for all the people working non stop to help us out.

Thank you everyone!

OKay, as of the latest reports.... The Haymen fire has consumed well over 76,000 acres by itself. They are hoping to get some control of it within the next 24 hours. This is the largest and most destructive forest fire in the history of the state of Colorado. So please keep your prayers going for rain, we can use all that we can get.

Here's a hymn of prayer, re-worded for firefighters and homeowners:

Eternal Father, strong to save,
Whose arm protects from birth to grave.
Who's mighty forests and their trees,
set humble mankind on its knees.
Oh, send your angels, sight unseen,
To those who keep them safe and green.

O Christ! Whose voice the waters heard
And sent them raining at Thy Word,
Who walked on the foaming deep,
And calm amidst its rage didst sleep;
Oh, hear us when we pray for rain,
For those who toil on in vain!

Most Holy Spirit! Who didst brood
Upon the chaos dark and rude,
And bid its raging fires cease,
And give, for wild confusion, peace;
Oh, hear us when we pray to you,
Protect our homes and loved ones too!

O Trinity of love and power!
Our family shield in danger’s hour;
From rock and tempest, fire and foe,
Protect us wheresoever we go;
Thus evermore shall rise to Thee
Glad hymns of praise from land and sea.

I’m sorry I only now found this thread, but I have been aware of your situation as my 82 year old mother lives in Denver and told me Sunday night she had to turn her AC off because of the smoke that was being sucked inside. My son in-law is a firefighter as was a close uncle. Fire is both known and understood here.:eek:
My inner thoughts are with you as I, along with legend and scorpi42 “pray” :confused: (or by whatever name you give it) do send “SPECIAL” emotions to you.

As has been stated, there seems to be some VERY sick and dangerous members of our species both in Colorado and Canada that have been “seen” starting fires. If this is an UNQUESTIONABLE fact, do we have a responsibility we would prefer to defer?
I am not seeking any response, only giving food for thought (the quality that is suppose to set us apart from other species).
If a rattle snake were laying eggs in the closet of a loved one, should I only brake the eggs or should I seek out the laying snake and end the danger for what has meaning to me in this life?
Please understand that it is not with youthful ignorance or haste that I even consider action against my own kind. Do we not do worst because of a philosophical, duty, or even just the difference in a uniform?
The true magnitude of the destruction and negative effects from these fires are beyond our conscious comprehension.
Dealing with only what I do know, do feel are my responsibilities of stewardship, and the FACTS before me, I know that a 30.06 will reach as far as I can clearly see.

of a firefighting fraternity.

You've only the weather to count on otherwise.

If no one noticed I am in Colorado also. Thank you one and all for your thoughts and prayers. I have spent most of the day with a group of friends helping to run water to the people we can so that they do not get dehydrated while fighting this blaze of hell. And I agree with you PF on your thoughts.

And now for an update. As of 10pm loacl time the Haymen fire is up to 90,000 acres and is now 5% contained. It is spreading west and southwest I think. Which means that it has moved back over itself, so it is easier to be contained. When I was near the site, it was not fun and there was so much ash and smoke falling. Someone commented that it reminded them of a volcano when it explodes, without the lava.

The Glenwood springs fire is over 10,500 acres I believe and not sure how much is contained on that one. But it is defintely being contained at this point. The main problem with all of these fires is the winds that don't seem to be slowing much.

But once again thank you one and all for oyur prayers and thoughts.

I live in bushfire country so I know how bad these things are. Last year an idiot throwing a cigarette out of his car window started a huge blaze that came within 100 metres of my house.

It is truly frightening and the way it jumped 400 metres was terrifying. some years ago half of Tasmania was ablaze and over 100 people died along with property and stock destroyed.

There are a growing number of idiots light them on purpose for whatever perverted pleasure they get out of it. They should be strung up by the balls.

So Sar and PF I hope things come under control very quickly. My thoughts and prayers are with you guys.

Well I am here tonight to sadly report that they discovered who started our biggest fire in history. A member of the US Forest Services started the fire when she was trying to burn a letter from her estranged husband. It appears that this lady received the letter that morning and while patrolling the campgrounds that night decided to burn the letter. She lit the letter with matches from her purse and set it into a fire circle. That was the cause of the biggest forest fire of Colorado. She was arrested today and will be brought before a Federal Magistrate tomorrow. The fire is now 47% contained, and if I heard the reports correctly, doesn't sound like it has spread any further.
