i dunno that it qualifies as a weird job, but i'm a professionally-trained piercer. of course, before that, i worked in a video store and a grocery, so maybe it's the transition that's weird.

Hmm, most of my own jobs have been pretty ordinary --- but... In the summers, I work as a Student Employment Officer for the federal government, and in our office we see all kinds of bizarre jobs. I've lost count of how many job opportunities I've posted for Christmas tree pruners and potato bug pickers; and then there was the hot air balloon attendant, the clown (sorry to the clown phobes here), the carnie, and then my personal favourite, which takes some explaining...

Just outside of the town where I live and work, there is a man who has created a bomb shelter. Out of old school buses. Buried underground. With air conditioning and blankets and a heck of a lot of canned food. For 300 people. And he apparently has a waiting list of people who want to have spaces reserved for them!

Well, every summer, this guy phones into our office to hire some nice strapping high school boys to come and clean the shelter because of vandals. My question is and always will be, what good is the shelter against nuclear weapons if local kids can break in and vandalize it???

:confused:

Maybe he just wanted to get boys down into the buses.

Did you see any come back?

Just a suspicious Oldfart.

I once worked at Church's Chicken(quit a job cuz they were gonna pay me more) anyways...part of my job duties were to separate chicken parts...white meat from dark meat. Sounds easy, huh? WRONG...we had to stand in the 30 degree cooler and sort boxes and boxes of it...enough for 2 days worth..or more. The smell alone was enough to make you vomit. And my hands got so freakin cold I couldn't feel my fingers. Then of course you had chicken blood, and that gooey juice all over you...UCK...I can't believe I quit Checkers..for that. LOL I guess when your 17 you'll do anything to revolt against any authority figure...mine being the boss I had at Checkers. Needless to say I quit there and went back to Checkers after Church's screwed me on hours!!!

Its not really wierd but I work in a New Age store.

My worst job was in a Homeware and giftware shop. The really snobby rich staff and customers.

OF---Perhaps;the guy;who owns the bomb shelter is a Catholic
Priest.They like young boys! Irish
P.S.Before everyone gets up in arms;I was brought up Catholic;
but I'm not blind or stupid!If it was one of my; grandchildren;that
was molested.The person wouldn't have to wonder if they were
going to heaven or not.They'd already know!

Not getting up in arms, but I really wish it would be acknowledged by the media that it's not JUST the Catholic church that has a problem with ministers taking advantage of their members.:mad:

Sugarsprinkles---I agree that it's not just the Catholic Church;but;
as I told my mother when she said the same thing-"Since when do;two wrongs;make a right?" Irish
P.S.It's time for the coverups to cease.Many of the "victims"are
mentally screwed up for the rest of their lives!

My way of handeling;the many;things that bother me,religion,
politics,my alcoholism,my diabetic condition,ageing,my grandsons
autism,abuse,violence,etc.,is to joke about them.If I don't do that;
I;get an ulcer over something that I can do nothing about.This helps no one(including myself)so that is the way I handle things.If
this offends anyone;I'm sorry!Maturity has tought me that there is
no sense to getting pissed off; at something;that you cannot change! Irish

Legend---You can't go thru life worrying about what other people
like.Most of the time you're wrong anyway!Have at it.If people don't like it;they won't respond.They might have no views on the
subject;anyway. Irish

Agreed, but I'm not saying two wrongs make it right. I'd just like the problem to be universally exposed...so that it can be cleaned up wherever it occurs. The way it's being covered right now makes it look as though it's a "Catholic" problem when it's more correctly a "clergy" problem.

I think the most boring job i've ever had was a housekeeper/cleaner in a big firm. I had to get there early enough and get the place clean before the the rest of the community did. Pretty weird ha!!

my first job was at a boarding kennel, I got to scoop up dog poop, got fired cuz the owner refused (no pun intended) to have the grass cut so it hid the excrement

My weirdest job was working at a porn store, with video booths, that was locted between two strip clubs. Except for the cleaning of the video booths, I actually liked the job a lot. Got to know the strippers a bit and had a whole drawer of free passes into both strip clubs.
