My S/O and I have tried a cockring (several in fact) :D . Sizing is important - the first one we got was much too small and it was terrible for him :( . We now have one that fits fairly well, from trial and error and it seems to do the job.
I am not sure he gets a sensation of his balls and shaft being held (will have to check with him) but it does make his cock really really hard for the time it is on. Looking back, a quick release model would be have been ideal because sometimes after he cums, he is very sensitive and it hurts some. I go to the hardware store and buy a rubber gasket about 2" in diameter, and about 1/16" thick.
They sell for about $0.29 and work just like all the leather or metal ones. They have varying sizes that can fit anyone.

Sounds like an “O” ring is what your looking for. You’re right that they are available in infinite sizes including thickness. Seems the thicker would have less tendency to cut.:( They’re sized by ID and OD. The greater the difference, the thicker the ring. ;)
